Its been so long since I’ve posted on here!! I remember posting and asking questions almost every week lol. In all seriousness, this was my first bunny and I unfortunately went in with the idea that it was an “easy” pet, so when I actually researched and found out how much a bunny needs, I was overwhelmed. I really want to give a huge thank…[Read more]

Ok, thank you!
Yes, it is high protein for grass hay but it’s very fresh. The supplier gets it straight from a farmer. I’m weighing her all the time and shes gaining weight consistently. She was exactly 1kg in Monday which is a huge improvement!
Would 6% protein be enough for her for a while if she eats a lot of the hay?

Oh, I don’t consider the palm plates to be junk food as they are essentially straight fiber. 🙂 I just don’t want to go through them that fast or have them ignore their hay. I order them on Amazon in large packs and they are pretty affordable.
The snak shak is more of the junk food thing because it has some molasses in it. It’s basically…[Read more]

Thanks for your insights and suggestions, Dana! They always have their activity zone, tokihut (not a chew toy but can be chewed), a few boxes (they love a funnel made from the Casper pillow box), and the fling toys that they never touch. Currently on tap we also have a seagrass mat, a plethora of apple wood twigs (not their fave but they decide t…[Read more]

You don’t have to introduce new grass hay slowly.
12-13% protein sounds too high for normal grass hay. I just looked at my Oxbow hay bags, and both orchard and timothy contain 7% protein.
You could weigh your bun every week and keep a weight diary.

Thank you! I clean up their pen with white vinegar and water which they don’t seem to mind. Maybe putting straight vinegar on the bars will be more aversive to ingest, though. Definitely will give that a try! thanks 🙂

I’m having issues with my timothy hay supplier so I had to get some from a store. Do I need to slowly introduce my bunny to the new hay or can I just give it to her normally? She’s recovering from some serious digestive issues and she’s only 5 months old so I want to make sure.
Also is anyone aware of a brand that would have timothy hay that’s a…[Read more]

Thanks! It’s been hard and really hope the no nipping today becomes the norm. I know all my posts don’t warrant a response but trying to keep it as a detailed journal as well as for help along the way 🙂

OMG, the progress looks amazing! I’m so glad she is doing better now. I know it was scary to have that done. And then to doubt yourself about your decision, that must have been awful 🙁 It looks like it will all be worth it in the end. She sounds so happy now.

I think this is day 5 with some stress bonding. Today I did the same as yesterday, one session starting on the dryer for 5 min, then down to the ottoman. This time Ruby didn’t nip. They were in there about 15 minutes without much interaction. One head war and I petted them. Then put them side by side again for pets before taking back upstairs.

Omg she looks so much better in that last video!!!
I’m sooooo happy to hear that she’s turned a corner and is doing well! I’m constantly amazed by the resilience of rabbits. They really are amazing creatures. <3
Way to go Daisy and way to go YOU!

What does he currently have to chew on?
For the pen biting, it can help a lot to hang a sheet or a towel over the pen wall. Something about not being able to see through it makes them less obsessed. You can clip the towel in place with binder clips and it works pretty well.
My bunnies really like organic palm plates. Mine will eat a whole on in…[Read more]

So, Daisy had her surgery to remove an abscess on her mandible. It was first thought to be a dental abscess, but during the procedure, they discovered that there was no tooth root involved.
When I first picked her up from the vets, I was shaking and pretty much cried the whole drive home. She looked so poorly and sore.
The first week, we were…[Read more]

Did you try spraying it with white vinegar? My bunny is not a chewer but once in awhile when he tries to pull the boxes under the couch to get in there, I spray it with white vinegar and he leaves it alone as he hates the smell. Once he leaves the boxes, I reward him with a fibafirst hay stick as a cue that there are yummier things to chew on…
