I have never heard of a tendon repair surgery, and to be honest, I am not a doctor nor vet but the amount of time movement would need to be restricted to allow a tendon to get back to functioning (to handle all the zoomies and binkies) would probably be a while. A rabbit is not going to really understand the concept of not stressing an injury at…[Read more]

So sorry to hear about Monty xo He was clearly very loved, and what a long life.
I’d only echo what someone else said; that some ppl need a lot of time to grieve, so don’t rush it. My husband and I just lost our senior bun in June to cancer, and I couldn’t even clean her cage for a month. It was just too much, as I was extremely bonded with her.…[Read more]

Sounds like Ruby and Elmer were great friends and also are/were very loved. You could only do the best you knew how, and it’s amazing you have such good memories of the time you had with Elmer 🙂

Hello,
The other day my bunny was playing and I didn’t see what happened but he started bleeding a lot so I rushed him to the vet as soon as possible. The vet came back to tell me that my bunny completely cut a tendon in his back leg ( not sure which one) and he needed tendon repair surgery or amputation of his leg.
I was inconsolable and u…[Read more] -

It’s taken me over 2 months, but I wanted to make a post for Elmer. He was my first bun, and I felt a connection to him right away. I had never really loved a pet so much, so I called him my soul mate bunny, haha. I knew next to nothing about rabbit care, but I could only bear to keep in in a cage overnight for the first night and after that he…[Read more]

Bam, thank you so much! That’s really enlightening! I had no idea about the mites. Also, your comment about Meloxicam was reassuring. I appreciate you taking the time to respond!!

I agree developing mites must seem puzzling, but it isnt. All rabbits have some mites in their fur, they get them from their mum when theyre kits. The buns immune defense keeps the number of mites down, and the mites dont cause the bun any trouble.
When a rabbit is under some sort of stress – not necessarily “bad” stress, it can be sth as simple…[Read more]

Day 6 of stress + small space session. It was about the same as yesterday, I was petting a lot to try and break the nipping habit. There was a half cuddle for about 10 minutes. She didn’t nip until the end, when I tried to pick up Max to get him out of the ottoman, as he moved she nipped with a growl. I put him down for a sec so it didn’t end that…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I just got Max last week; he is 8 months old (unknown mix). He has an appointment in 2 weeks to get neutered. I took him to the vet yesterday because I noticed that he seemed itchy.  The vet said he didn’t have fleas or mites but could be developing some so she squirted Revolution on him and told me to come back in 4 weeks for an…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic HELP bunny peeing ln my bed ;( in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 9 months ago
Unfortunately bed-peeing is a really common problem with buns. Beds are soft and smell strongly of humans, so that triggers many bunnies to pee on them.
The most effective solution is to block access to your bed with an x-pen. You could try doing this temporarily at first to see if that helps him break the habit.
Another solution that a BB…[Read more]

I used echinacea on and off with my bunny Milo on and off before he had passed on. He was dealing with ear infection, e cuniculi, and Pasteurella when he passed, he was on Metacam, fenbendazole ( he had been on and off fenbendazole a few times) baytril, doxycycline, and metoclopramide to stimulate his gut as well as a ointment for his down eye…[Read more]

Then you pretty much have to keep giving her hay. There’s no point in trying to give her more protein if it just causes GI upset.
Some buns with a stomach problem can tolerate a small amount of rolled oats and/or a few sunflower seeds per day.

I have readigrass and I tried it after she was taken off alfalfa and she doesn’t tolerate that either. She doesn’t tolerate any pellets, I tried 3 different brands including one I got from my vet. It seems she doesn’t tolerate anything with sugar or carbs in it or anything too rich.
