Thank you for the reply. I have tried switching her pellets. She’s been on 2 different types of Oxbow and then I switched to Sherwood in the last year which she was doing better on for a while. Do you have any brand recommendations? Those were the two that were recommended as high quality. As far as veggies I do give a variety so I think I’m goi…[Read more]

Hi all! My little Coco has been with us for a little less than 6th months now. She’s a 2 year old lionhead x rex.

I usually check her teeth once every few weeks, but I noticed her nose was wet today. I also noticed that she’s been making a “buzzing sound” these past few days. I don’t think it’s teeth grinding as she really sounds like a…[Read more]

Cardboard is the fave with Walter and Boo.

A box they can fit in, then put down those cardboard cat scratcher refills…cut to fit.  They love to dig, dig, dig on these.  The last one had a gap in the middle that I stuffed with hay.

I only cut one door in the box so they can customize their own, if they want.

An inexpensive toy that provides D…[Read more]

Since she has been acting off for a while and turned down a treat, she should definitely be seen by a vet ASAP.

    How is she doing now?

In terms of an absolute threshold: If she has not poo’d or eaten in 12 hours, that is considered a medical emergency and she needs to be taken to a vet immediately.

If the cause of not eating is gas-related, there are some at-home measures you can try to help her pass the gas along. Note that if the gas has accumulated to an extent and/or if the…[Read more]

    Hello!

I have a 1 year old hermaphrodite bunny who has been acting lethargic lately. I haven’t seen her eat or drink much but i have seen her per and poo. My parents are recently divorced and although i try my best to keep them at my moms house, sometimes it’s not possible and so we have been traveling around more. we also went on a road trip a w…[Read more]

    Hey everyone,

Very random, but does anyone else’s bunny do this or is Glenn just a funny one!

My lion head Glenn with clean his mane by drinking out of his water bowl then uses his wet lounge to lick his mane! He always does this and in one cleaning session will repeat drink a couple drops of water then groom his mane! A little like a bird bath…[Read more]

My vet had prescribed “poop shakes” using cecals (ideally) or regular poops for one of my fosters that had cecal dysbiosis. We used poops from a healthy bun that already lived with the sick bunny, so there was less concern about introducing parasites or other diseases. I would mix the poops into the bun’s critical care. Unfortunately I can’t say…[Read more]

Update: I saw a new vet today and had chemistry profile , x-ray and fecal test. Vet found coccidia one cyst in fecal sample. She also mentioned that my Bunny seemed to have few amount of good gut bacteria. We will be doing a fecal culture next and then fecal transplantation may be. Anyone have any experience with fecal transplant, any success?

Awesome, thanks for the info and the next steps forward! One rabbit (Honey) loves pets, but Coconut does not. Hopefully petting Honey during dates will be sufficient, since she seems to be more aggressive. Thanks again!

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Should I get my female rabbit spayed? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 9 months ago

Spaying a female is a more invasive procedure than neutering males yes; however, as long as you have an experienced rabbit exotic vet, a spay is a routine procedure that countless female rabbits have done and live wonderful lives afterwards. It is important that your rabbit is given the “green light” from a competent rabbit vet to ensure the…[Read more]

Sorry just another question, is there a higher risk (or a risk at all) to spay female rabbits versus male rabbits?

Thank you guys for your suggestions/advice! Much appreciated!

Its seems like, spayed or not she would most likely have to go to the vet anyway and it looks like there is a clear, less uncomfortable way. To get Lennon spayed! And it seems from what you have said that there will be a much stabler bond between my buns as well, which is always good!

I had a fur puller. He would pull his fur any time he was stressed. So the vet could be right. But I do agree with Wick. It could be a sign of pain too, so you want to make sure to rule that out first.

So, most bunnies really hate being picked up, especially if it happens a lot. For the best bonding with your bunnies, it would be ideal for their pens to be connected to their play area where you could sit on the floor and allow them to come over to you on their own. I agree with Wick that you shouldn’t use the bonding area for this, as you want…[Read more]

3-4 week recovery is along time for having stasis that often. I’m so sorry you are going through that, it sounds so stressful for you and horrible for her. 🙁

I am also curious about the diet. Some bunnies are really sensitive to pellets and veggies in general and do best on a hay-only diet (a variety of hays is provided to make sure nutritional…[Read more]
