What’s the word? Did the vet figure determine the issue?

So in terms of neutral space, it should be an area that neither rabbit has spent time in previously, and is ideally not near their main areas in your home. But, you can use the same area for each bonding session. So really the only time the buns should spend in the neutral space is during bonding sessions. Ensure that your space is as neutral as…[Read more]

I agree with Bam, since you are seeing symptoms (mushy poop), I would treat the coccidea. It is common in many rabbits but often doesn’t cause symptoms in adult rabbits unless there is a strain on the immune system. It could have been triggered by the initial stasis episode in your bun’s case. Sometimes rabbits with no symptoms show more cysts in…[Read more]

You’re welcome! I do hope that having some meds on hand at home will help and will ease some stress.
I think that trying hay-only or doing an elimination only diet is a good next step, since you have already tried a few pellet brands. You can also fine pure timothy pellets for horses that might be good in the future if she has trouble keeping…[Read more]

Coccidia oocysts are not a normal find, and should be treated. Coccidia is not an uncommon parasite in rabbits, but it’s not benign like pinworms. If the fecal sample contained very few oocysts, chances are the infestation is still low grade, so I’d say treat asap. Coccidia typically cause runny stools and weight loss.

They said mixing with critical care and feed him. This is a new vet.
I was wondering whether a coccidia cyst is a normal thing or not? Any idea? otherwise, I will start the treatment.
They will do a fecal culture to see to what extent there are good bacterias present. Then they will think about the fecal transplant.

A rabbit’s nose can be wet sometimes, esp after physical activity. This is because healthy rabbits only ever breathe through their noses even when they run around – unlike like dogs who will breathe with an open mouth when they are being physically very active. Moisture from the air that flows in and out of the rabbit’s nose can deposit around the…[Read more]

Thank you for the reply. I have tried switching her pellets. She’s been on 2 different types of Oxbow and then I switched to Sherwood in the last year which she was doing better on for a while. Do you have any brand recommendations? Those were the two that were recommended as high quality. As far as veggies I do give a variety so I think I’m goi…[Read more]

Hi all! My little Coco has been with us for a little less than 6th months now. She’s a 2 year old lionhead x rex.
I usually check her teeth once every few weeks, but I noticed her nose was wet today. I also noticed that she’s been making a “buzzing sound” these past few days. I don’t think it’s teeth grinding as she really sounds like a…[Read more]

Cardboard is the fave with Walter and Boo.
A box they can fit in, then put down those cardboard cat scratcher refills…cut to fit. They love to dig, dig, dig on these. The last one had a gap in the middle that I stuffed with hay.
I only cut one door in the box so they can customize their own, if they want.
An inexpensive toy that provides D…[Read more]

Since she has been acting off for a while and turned down a treat, she should definitely be seen by a vet ASAP.
How is she doing now?

In terms of an absolute threshold: If she has not poo’d or eaten in 12 hours, that is considered a medical emergency and she needs to be taken to a vet immediately.
If the cause of not eating is gas-related, there are some at-home measures you can try to help her pass the gas along. Note that if the gas has accumulated to an extent and/or if the…[Read more]
