Thanks for the response. I didn’t realize lionheads prefer lionheads! I think they’re Rockstars 😉
She loves my cat so I was thinking of trying to find another rabbit with a personality similar to his. Goofy, playful, and cuddly.
I’m not sure I can speed date my girl, just based on who adopts out rabbits around here. It makes me a little nervous…[Read more]

Ellie, wonderful pictures! So beautiful they are! And I love the embroidery! I’ve been in a crocheting frenzy these last few days, trying to finish some homemade Christmas gifts. I mostly make socks, everybody needs socks this time of year.
I’m glad you could get Owen neutered. I don’t think there’s a 6 months-policy around here for boy rabbits,…[Read more]

That’s interesting! She was very easy to bond with Bun Jovi, and when I was trying for a quad she also immediately got along with Cooper. But, she did NOT get a long with Bonnie right away. I did eventually make some progress with them but it was going to take a lot more work to get them to really like each other.

I agree, I think he’ll be just fine. 🙂 When you move him over, keep some soiled litter in his litter box to help things smell more like home to him.

Thank you!
I probably would separate them on Christmas with a see-through plastic panel, so they can at least see eachother when they are opening their presents 🙂
Thank each and every one of you so much!

I’ve seen a few threads here where a Californian was being bonded and I think they all had easy times, so makes me think the gentle temperament is typical for them, awwww. I think Ruby has Florida white in her too. That is interesting and too cute about the color changes, I had no idea!

I think he’ll be fine. The bun I have now had to move house three times before she was 5 months old. It doesn’t seem to have made her insecure or anxious. It’s normal for a rabbit to be wary the first few days in a new home. If he’s staying with his former owner for a week, it won’t be a new place for him.

Regarding the Christmas thing, for my unbonded pair they groom each other and cuddle but at the end of the day they aren’t bonded so I have given them a stocking each and wrapped presents each and will just have them open them separately.
I don’t think your bunnies will like their presents any more because they’ve opened them together. Opening…[Read more]

@Suzanne Yeah, Bertha was BJ’s past partner, before Myra. And yep we think Myra is Californian, maybe crossed with a Florida white, because she isn’t quite as big as a pure Californian. She definitely has the “meat” and “fur” breed genes though, her coat is sooooo soft and dense, and she tends to put on weight really easily. One thing I didn’t…[Read more]

Yes, they both purr quite a bit when the other grooms them 🙂 I put down another sheet and they had a lot of room yesterday. They are definitely acting happier to hang out together. Very first thing they were exploring with the new sheet on the floor, and Ruby kept running over to Max 🙂 Ruby has flopped like that with him even early on, but I t…[Read more]

If they start fighting seriously, I may consider separating them. On the other hand, I don’t anyone to get hurt…
If I see any small signs off aggression besides nipping and chasing, I will separate them immediately.

Male-female pairs are the most common and do seem to be slightly easier bonds. But F-F pairs are possible too. Size and age don’t matter at all, it’s more about personalities. Breed also doesn’t really matter… but all of that said…. anecdotally lionheads seem to prefer other lionheads. I don’t have any real evidence for this, but at the…[Read more]

Wick – what a fantastic idea about the puzzles, perhaps she’s more of an enrichment bun than an energetic bun. My other is crazy and will entertain himself more by running all over the furniture lol but perhaps she more chill and would prefer engagement type exercise.

Ok gotcha! I wasn’t sure if you had bonding experience before. I think that would also increase the chances of success, because you have some experience. 🙂

Since Patches is still very young, and both are unspayed, whatever bond they have is known as a “baby bond”, rather than a true bond, and can be very unstable. Adult rabbits tend to get a long with babies (pre-puberty), as they don’t see them as a threat. The chasing and nipping you are seeing is a sign that it is becoming even less stable.
Again…[Read more]

Hi everyone!
my boyfriend and I are lucky owners of a beautiful lop called Buddy who is approx 4 months old. We adopted him from a friend who couldn’t look after him long term as her landlord doesn’t allow pets. we’re going away next month and our only real option for him to be looked after is for him to stay for a week at his previous owner’s…[Read more]

They look adorable! They must be so well-cared for, those people really are amazing! It’s wonderful having such a group around ^_^
It’s logical to get such a feeling, our brains like to see the world in patterns. Our fears too, especially when something very bad happened, and you fear for someone that you hold dear.
Those are the primal…[Read more]
