They look cute and bouncy! That video was funny! I feel like Ruby was playing, then Maxwell joined in, and then Ruby got worried he was chasing her.

I can totally see why that room makes more sense for longer sessions. Do you get the sense it was a lot worse there? When you get to the point of doing an overnight, maybe you could start out in the…[Read more]

So, there is a huge range of opinions on this, and it depends a lot of your bunny (such as whether he’s a good hay eater, is still growing, has digestive issues, etc). It’s also important to consider whether a variety of veggies and wild plants is available in your area year round.

To get started, I recommend searching the forum (use the…[Read more]

    Did a bit more digging!

I also found this old thread with some great discussion about homemade treats, as well as the additives guar gum, xanthan gum, etc. https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/ressurecting-bunny-cookies/

One study found that guar gum increased absorption and utilization of a medication in vivo (opposite of the in vitro study…[Read more]

    Hi there,

Just so I’m clear on the timeline, the babies are 8 weeks old? So, usually adult rabbits get along with babies, but this isn’t a true bond, and once the young rabbits hormones start to kick in the adult rabbits will usually fight them off. 8 weeks is a bit young for this to start happening, but it could be that since the babies are…[Read more]

So about 8 weeks my female rabbit gave birth to a surprise litter of 5 and I separated my male rabbit from her , we have 2 left but one is getting rehomed soon,  we wanted to keep the last baby so we have three , we have just started letting him in an open pen with the mum and babies and in the beginning the mum was humping him but no he is…[Read more]

Hi, I have been looking into pellet free diets for rabbits.

I was wondering whether pellet free diets are any good for bunnies since I read an article saying that It will take between 14-17 veggies a day to give your rabbit a nutritionally complete diet is this true?

    Thank you xx

Respiratory distress is always “sooner; not later” territory — as obligatory nose breathers (i.e., rabbits cannot breath out of their mouths; only their nose), any sign of nasal/respiratory obstruction needs to be addressed as soon as possible to ensure your rabbit is able to breath. Cautiously, I think the Thursday appointment could be fine…[Read more]

Hey yall, my rabbit Gremlin started to show signs of a runny/stuffy nose sometime around Christmas. He was sneezing more frequently and ive seen two instances of that resulting in some mucus coming out as well. Sometimes I can also hear him breathing and it sounds like he’s a little stuffy.  However, he doesn’t seem to have runny eyes and the…[Read more]

Thanks! This has been so much, it’s really taken over my life, lol.  I think staying in Neutral for at least one overnight have been best, but I still hope they can bond in the living room since it’s just so much easier on me.

I ended it with them last night after 12 hours. I think this was the longest session (but I think they were napping for…[Read more]

Thank You DanaNM. Unfortunately she (Asuna) passed away shortly after getting to the vet so Yuna our other bunny didnt get that. It does break me up to know she won’t know where she went but i am unabke to change what happened.

I plan to do as you said and spend more time with her since she is alone now. I order a bunny pillow that cuddles them…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁  Was your current bunny able to spend time with the body after she passed? Usually that helps the surviving rabbit understand the loss and they cope much better.

In the immediate time after, monitor her eating and pooping. She may be a bit quieter than normal, but should still eat and poop normally. if not, she may…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Is Guar Gum safe? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 7 months ago

I’ll do some more digging on this in the literature, but I tend to agree with Bam. You’ll notice on the ingredient list that guar gum is very low down, after natural flavors and just before the preservative. That means that it’s present in a very tiny amount!  Honestly I’d personally be more concerned about the flours and sugars than the guar…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic rabbit became suddenly picky eater? (Still ongoing stasis?) in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 7 months ago

Eating hay is super important, so you can offer a variety of grass hays to him and see what he likes. You don’t need to worry about changing between grass hays, that doesn’t shock a rabbit’s system the way switching between pellets or veggies does.

Agree that stasis recovery can be slow, and “picky” eating is usually a sign of lingering pain.…[Read more]

It’s perfectly fine to syringe some fluids and would probably help. I like to use the small 1 mL syringes to give fluids. I think you could start with around 5 mL and see how she responds to that. I usually give mine around 6 mL at a time if I suspect they are dehydrated, but use the 1 mL syringes, they seem to swallow them more easily that…[Read more]
