I am providing critical care as much as possible. She’s not as eager to drink it as she was a few days ago and I’m scared to force it because she’s already in pain and stressed.

No, her non-emergency vet hasn’t gotten a chance to see her again since her really bad GI attack. I’m going to go through all of the possibilities with him on Monday. I…[Read more]

I’m sorry she’s still up and down. 🙁

Bene-bac is really commonly given to rabbits and isn’t known to cause issues, so it could be worth a try. Usually it’s used in cases of cecal dysbiosis.

Fiber and hydration are really the name of the game, so the more fluids and fiber you can get into her, the better. Are you still giving critical…[Read more]

Yes, I did end up leaving them for a bit today when they were sleeping. Everything was fine.

So, since I put in the tunnels, the last 12 hours they haven’t really cuddled much or interacted. Still a little mutual grooming and cuddling at least. Recently was a very brief tense moment, and I only had to say stop, so not sure what to make of today.…[Read more]

Welcome! It’s great that you are doing your research, and wonderful that you are thinking of rescuing.

I think my biggest tip of a free-roam bun would be to start out with a pen-set up, so your bun has an area that is just “theirs” with their hay, litter box, water bowl, a hide, and some toys. It helps the bun to settle in to have them confined…[Read more]

I watched the ball drop live stream for about the last few minutes before midnight, ha!

We get the keys to our new place on the 10th, and are getting the moving truck on the 11th. I’m thinking it would be best to wait until we get the furniture all moved to get the buns, so probably the 13th? But I may not be able to resist that long!

I noticed I always felt fine leaving mine briefly alone if it was during their sleepy time of day, but then I’d supervise closely when they were active. So if you feel comfortable with that, that’s an option too. I think you know them well enough to go with your gut on this one.

That must be so upsetting. 🙁 Hormones can make this happen, so spaying should help a lot. It can take several weeks for things to improve though, so be patient with her. For now, wear thick gloves and move slowly and calmly when you do things around her cage. If she bites you, just stay put and don’t with draw your hand, but do make a loud…[Read more]

Aww that sounds like she has plenty of space to play!

The time between hormones kicking in and waiting for a spay can be a really tough time for us humans but behaviour almost always settles back down a few weeks post spay.

Not sure what to say about the increase in attacking over the last couple days or her only attacking you… Bunnies can be…[Read more]

She is going in and out of GI stasis. She has an appointment on the 3rd and I could find anyone on Thursday or Friday to see her. I’m managing to put whatever I can into her to help her digestive system. She doesn’t poop most of the day, then everything I give her kicks in around the evening and she poops. I was wondering if giving her “He…[Read more]

she has an xpen with toys and room to run, but her cage door is usually open almost all day for her to play in my room.

thank you! hopefully getting her spayed will help : )

It is normal for rabbits to show territorial aggression when they hit puberty. She may see you as invading her territory. The good news is this behaviour should settle down a lot a few weeks post spay. I don’t believe there is such this as a mean bunny.

You mentioned cage a few times in your post, what is her set up like? Cages alone aren’t…[Read more]

my rabbit is almost 11 months old and about a month ago she started to circle me and became a lot more destructive. i made her an appointment to be spayed which is in a week. but these past few days shes gotten very very aggressive to the point where i can’t let her out of her cage to play because she immediately attacks me and wont quit. today…[Read more]

    Hmmm… New Year’s Resolutions.

    Provide better pet enrichment

    Go outside more

try to argue less, I’m bad at that lol

Who else stayed up last night and watch the ball drop live stream? Was anybody actually there? I wasn’t, I just watched the live stream. Part of it, at least. When do you think you will get your buns back, @DanaNM ?

Yes, it almost feels too good to be true at this point! I even woke up to them cuddled like a foot from my face this morning 🙂

Ruby actually chewed through the zipper on one of the carriers but I do have a small second holder/crate thing. She will probably chew more of whatever one up is the problem. Maybe Maxwell would be less likely to claim…[Read more]

Awwww yay! Happy New Year! I am counting down the days till I get my grumpy grandpa back! Only 10 now!

I don’t really have a resolution. I saw a meme that said it was the year’s turn to improve, LOL!

But if I had to make one, it would be to snuggle my bunnies even MORE.

That sounds sooo great! I definitely would try to do one more night in that space to really cement the good behaviors.

Rather than leave Ruby alone and remove Max (even though it would probably be fine….), to be safer could you just put them in separate carriers while you shower and handle whatever things you need to do? That way neither bun…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Mid-stage bonding advice, what next? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 8 months ago

Agree with Wick! I would work on doing long sessions in the neutral space first. Once you get to sessions that are many hours long (including a possible overnight) without issues, then they will be more ready for semi-neutral.

If you are regularly seeing fur on the ground, that isn’t normal, and indicates there is an issue with their bond. I would start by checking over all the bunnies very thoroughly for injuries (feel for scabs, they can be hard to see).

Separating the one getting bullied is a good first step. if you can separate them in a way where they can still…[Read more]
