Sorry if it wasn’t clear. My main question is if this is nesting behaviour? Or if it’s just normal digging and scratching? I’ve never noticed them do this before. The only info I can find online about nesting is where the rabbit picks hay up in their mouth and carries it to another place but I haven’t seen her do this. I’m just wondering why she…[Read more]

I got a phone call from the vet today, it’s good news. Luna’s liver values are almost back to normal, and her kidney values have improved as well (they won’t go back to normal due to her prior condition).
She says we don’t need to have a re-visit unless of course she becomes unwell again. I’m honestly shocked she made it through this, she was…[Read more]

A couple of thoughts, it could be due to seasonal shedding. Another option is that perhaps she’s chewing on something that runs her mouth as she chews it, such as the cage bars, or a wooden log etc.
The last option would be from it getting wet from basal discharge or drooling, but it doesn’t look wet.

Just wanted to report that Banni is eating normally for the last few days. I think the belly rubs may have been crucial in getting him back to normal.
His patches of skin which I believed was a mite infection have also disappeared.
Thanks Dana and others.

Yeah, I think they go away on their own most of the time. They seem to be pretty common.

Thats what I thought too when I first started seeing them. I thought maybe it was just because of how he was sitting but then I saw him actually lay some. So I got him a brush/glove and i’m really pushing more hay and greens. Hopefully that will help the slow down 🤞

I didn’t know the technical term for it! I too have seen this on my rabbits infrequently and they did go away on their own each time. Unsure how long it lasted but they didn’t grow or worsen prior to disappearing.

Yes, it can take several weeks for hormones to settle. They can even get worse during this time, something we called the “post-neuter craze”.

I’m not sure what you’re asking. Is that a picture of a nest? If you’re absolutely positive they are both girls (mistakes happen more often than people think), then it’s likely just a false/pseudo pregnancy.

It looks like two poops smooshed together (i.e. a “double”). As Bam said, it just indicates a little bit of a slowdown.

It looks like a meibomian cyst. Sometimes they go away on their own. You can use a warm compress on it. If it doesn’t go down or it gets bigger, a vet can lance it.

LBJ10 replied to the topic ♡ Baby bun allergic to hay?? ♡ in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 7 months ago
I would not rule out the possibility that the antibiotic is simply not the right one to use. I would definitely talk to your vet about potentially trying another one. If that doesn’t solve the problem, then a culture might be in order. Concluding that it is an allergy usually doesn’t happen until all other possibilities are eliminated.
