that’s a wonderful idea, there is a rabbit rescue not far from here so when I’m ready I might look into it. I cant believe how many end up in rescues its so sad.

Elliott has now had to go to the vets as he stopped eating and we think he has tummy pains as he was laying very strangely and breathing fast. we’ve had to leave him there for the day so…[Read more]

I had to say goodbye to my bun bun Vilde last summer. He had been battling with health problems for a long time and I had decided to let him go if he took a turn for the worse. Home euthanasia is not common here, but even if it had been, it wouldn’t have been an option due to the pandemic.

They injected him with a powerful sedative first. They…[Read more]

It really sounds like you are doin great with him! He wouldn’t have licked your face otherwise.

Rabbits as a rule hate any kind of floor that they can’t get a “grip” on. This can be used to your advantage if there are places you don’t want him to go, but it can’t be relied on 100%.

Shedding/molting can look very different in different stages and…[Read more]

TBH, some oval poops here and there are not the biggest concern. I think it will be fine. Just keep up with the brushing.

Megacolon is genetic and apparent by a particular coat pattern (mentioned in the Wabbitwiki link), so based on your profile picture, unlikely.

If you’re brushing your rabbits x3/week right now, they must be molting so the occasional oval poops are likely fur-filled/linked. Outside of molting time you don’t really need to groom rabbits, and the…[Read more]

One more thing, one of my bunnies have had many x-rays done to him could the vet had diagnose him based on those x-rays if he did have megacolon.

I get that, i feel like they’re diet is good and full of hay, it’s that they get the occasional oval poops and i tend to brush them both 3 times a week. I’m just wondering what could be causing that.

Megacolon is a condition impacting how the GI system functions, so your question is a bit off-target since some poops that come from a rabbit with megacolon may literally be the result of a gut slow down or related/resulting complication. It is not one or the other nor would you be able to tell from a single pooping instance.…[Read more]

No experience with this one, but I have used Serenity Snack from the BB store. It definitely has a calming effect, but I would say what you witnessed is probably more on the extreme end. Then again, chamomile is used in “bedtime” teas for people.

I honestly don’t measure the blends…. if there are instructions, please abide by them, haha. I just typically sprinkly the top of the hay pile so that’s definitely less than a full handful just grabbing from the bag, but more than half a teaspoon, so I don’t think you’re giving a ton at all. That being said, I would say that “nervous lately” is…[Read more]

How do you differentiate weather a poop is caused by a gut slow down or it is Megacolon.

My bunnies have never reacted in this way, but that’s not to say it couldn’t happen?
