Hello again
I’m doubting my decision to let my rabbit go, and put her to sleep. She is 11 now and in bad health.
She has had ongoing bouts of stasis for the last 2 years. She cannot digest her food and is on grass hay only now. Shes had arthritis for 4 years and its pretty advanced. Potentially she has bone cancer in her leg. An xray couldnt…[Read more]

Hi Bam
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I know how difficult it is to recount. So thanks for your reply and not scrolling past. I’m sorry to hear about Vilde its a relief to hear that it was with you and peaceful.
I’m very scared as the only vets I can find that will perform the procedure dont always use sedation if the animals heart…[Read more]

Thanks so much for your reply. I’m caring for her by myself at the moment and I’ve been feeling very isolated. You’ve given me so much comfort.
Sorry your little one is also in this situation. Its terribly difficult. Boo is 11. She had advanced arthritis and potentially bone cancer, she cant walk now. Shes blind too and has had ongoing gut…[Read more]

We did it! I am happy to officially pronounce them husbun and wife!! Yay.
After months of pre bonding, tiresome bathroom dates going no where and a whole diagnosis for Bella I’m super happy for them!
I wanted to wait till they had spent a few days in their new space and had free roamed together for an evening to make sure things still went…[Read more]

thank you so much for your lovely message ❤️ x
the vet said they can do a post mortem but they often come back inconclusive with rabbits, we decided not to as it disturbed us thinking of putting his tiny body through that and then still getting no answers potentially 🙁

thank you for the link ill have a look at that.
I feel like it was definitely something viral. it is coincidental that he’d gone to the vets 2 weeks prior too. I’ve been reading and this second type of rhdv can take 1-2 weeks. I know the vets are supposed to take precautions but im doubtful they are perfect at this as I’m sure sometimes the vet…[Read more]

I’m so sorry to read about your Poppy and that your time with her was cut so short. though a bit older, both of my bunny’s passed away unexpectedly this week in similar circumstances with no real health issues so I can understand how painful it is and that you’re looking for answers.
I would lean towards it being something viral/infectious with…[Read more]

Okay, so she’s about a year and a half old (born September 2020). She has unlimited hay in her litter box, I top it with fresh hay every morning and evening. I give her around 3 sprigs of curly parsley along with 1-2 leaves of green leaf lettuce every morning mixed with some probiotics. Then I give her again around 3 sprigs of Italian parsley a…[Read more]

It’s never a bad idea to have a vet take a look. If this is your first experience with gas, then a vet can help confirm that is what it is. Then you will learn the signs in the future so it can quickly be addressed.
In the meantime, if he is exhibiting signs of discomfort, you can give simethicone and do tummy massages to help work the gas out.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic GI stasis? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
The safe recommendation online users can make would be to have your rabbit assessed by a vet since we can’t really know what’s going on — especially if you feel it’s odd, that’s a nice gut instinct to follow. Nothing harmful about getting a check up, and if everything seems fine, then you can monitor if it happens again and if so, consider what…[Read more]

Typically the first strategy is a combination of encouraging more hay eating and eliminating veggies one by one in order to see whether there may be an adverse reaction to one of them.
How old is your rabbit and do they have pellets? A more detailed description of rage and quantity for all food would be helpful.
