    Hey!

Bella had her check up at the vets today. They are unfortunately upping her dose of loxicom to twice daily… She is really struggling with her limp even with a daily dose so were trying to tackle it a couple of ways now.

Due to this she is basically peeing down her leg due to her inability to squat correctly. This is causing her behind to…[Read more]

If your rabbit is not prone to eating/destroying fabric, a handmade hay feeder out of cloth would be fine — I’d aim for 100% cotton just in case. Make sure the holes are a safe size (i.e., not one where they can get stuck in it).

Amazon sells TONS of baby stacking cups! There are some really cute pink/nude stacking cups that I want to get for my bun but they’re made of silicone, so now I’m kind of hesitant. I don’t want to buy anything chewable!

    Hi DanaNM,

Thanks for the above. I just wanted to update you and ask what your thoughts were, given you’re experienced in this scenario!

We have set up two indoor pens for Honey and New 2 and they have been living in each for around a week. I’ve swapped them over every day and have been brushing with the same brush etc etc.

Honey will nip New 2…[Read more]

Okay, but Jinx and his cactus bed are both so cute! I’m looking for a bed for my 3 month bun… but I don’t want anything chewable. That looks adorable, where did you buy it?

It’s not possible to say if this is your anxiety or an actual bun health problem. It doesn’t sound like you need to rush him to the vet, but I can’t say that your worries are totally unfounded – as I’m sure you understand.

Sorry I forgot to mention but I have always been feeding her timothy hay from Oxbow. I have another rabbit (4 years old) who eats from the same batch and I dont see any problem with him.

I’ve read all that advice too, and it often lead me astray LOL. Different things work for dif buns. I learned the petting technique from the lead bonder at the rescue I volunteer at, and it’s really worked well for me in some tough bonds.

It is important not to stay involved the whole time. Eventually you have to ease off the petting, but at…[Read more]

It’s strange, you don’t see stacking cups very much anymore. I think the last set I bought came from Amazon.

My holland lop used to be like this too. You can take your fingers and gently pull apart the matted fur and once you pull them apart, you will be able to pull it out clump easily. Maybe you can distract the bunny with treats or do it while its eating so you can do it with care and more ease.

I tried the boxes, she ate a bigger hole in them, slept in it for a couple weeks, then destroyed it. I also tried no feeder, then she tore it up, mixed it with the litter, and peed and pooped on it. Then the hay was blocking the pine smell of the litter, and she stank the place up FAST

If cloth is safe, my grandma likes to make stuff with me,…[Read more]

When you say “leafy” and “stems”, it makes me wonder what kind of hay this is. Does it have alfalfa in it?

Excess cecotropes can be caused by rich diet. This isn’t unusual in a young bunny since they are often fed alfalfa. It usually resolves when they are transitioned to an adult diet. So at 1 year old, excess cecotropes should no longer be an issue.

    Hi,

My holland lop who is 1 year old has been producing quite an excessive amount of cecotropes. Its lying around in her play pen and she doesnt eat them. I do see her eating cecotropes directly from her bottom so definitely she is esting enough.

I suspect that its the third cut hay looking batch that I received from Oxbow that is…[Read more]

Rabbits can definitely have bald spots from molting. I only knew it was self-mutilation because I saw him do it.
