That’s great! A lot of bunnies do seem to enjoy the hard plastic toys. If you can find a set of hard plastic baby keys, you might want to try those too.

Ive tried making her a dig box and even put some hay in there with the paper so she can try and forage her little hay bits but she still rather dig up her pee/poo 😭 shes a silly stink whom i love dearly, just honestly the fact that i sleep with her in the same room, just hearing that digging at a litter box is so loud it makes me restless): .…[Read more]

I’m going to go with spraying too. And yes, urine this color is perfectly normal.

Hi, I have 2 bonded holland lops (male and female both fixed) who are both a little over a year old. the male is adopted and is naturally pretty shy so i haven’t had any issues with him, but my female destroys something new almost every day. I share my room with them so they are able to be free roamed 24/7 but it feels impossible lately due to t…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Can EC be passed from rabbit to rabbit indirectly? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago

The spores are pretty hardy and can persist in the environment. However, it would be very difficult for a rabbit to become infected indirectly. The main mode of transmission is mother to babies while they are still in the womb. Transmission can occur through direct contact as well. But they have to either eat food contaminated with urine/spores or…[Read more]

Typically, no, they are not shedding spores at this stage.

This looks like some normal urine drops, I wouldn’t be concerned! Rabbit urine can vary a lot color and can look red sometimes. Your bunny is pretty young, correct? He could be spraying/ marking a bit as he hits puberty.

    Haha. 😄 Rabbits are funny.

I think the secret is… keep offering the snubbed alternative.

Ive been lamenting the lack of willow in my area. I use to have a few good trees I could get it from but the local council keeps taking them out.  I finally found a small amount recently and thought the buns would go crazy for it since they hadn’t had it…[Read more]

There are really no hard and fast rules to bonding rabbits. There are some very prominent blogs and social media accounts that recommend small spaces, but most animal welfare groups are moving away from this approach, and personally small spaces have never worked for me (and I’ve bonded I think 6 of my own pairs now, along with advising lots of…[Read more]

I think in your case the main concern is urine scald.

You might also check out some of the resources on diasbledrabbits.com , they have a section on bathing: http://www.disabledrabbits.com/baths–cleaning.html

Even if the rabbit WAS actively shedding, do you think that it would take more than indirect contact (rabbit to clothing/hands and then to another rabbit) to cause infection? I know that you can use certain disinfectants to kill the EC spores, but how would you ensure that there were not spores on your hands before touching another rabbit?

One more question for you- so a rabbit that is showing symptoms (such as a head tilt), is not necessarily shedding the parasite? So does that mean that a rabbit with active symptoms is not necessarily contagious to other animals?

Hello, yes, so the space is in my living room where both buns have never been before the bonding process began. I follow a Facebook page about bonding and their method says to start small in a neutral space that is just big enough so they can flop next to each other, and slowly expand every 2-5 days if there are no bad behaviors until it gets to a…[Read more]
