As with humans, the value of a multivitamin for rabbits is debatable. That being said, I don’t think they necessarily hurt anything. I don’t use Oxbow’s multivitamin, but I do use their joint supplement.

There will always be a delay with the poop. They poop less when they are lounging and sleeping. When they become active again and eat more, the poop doesn’t just magically appear the second they are eating something. It needs time to make its way out.

OMG, she is darling! I agree with Bam. I would not worry about her behavior at this point. Her body will need time to adjust to the changes. This can take several weeks. At that point, she should return to her normal personality… minus any hormone-driven behaviors, of course.

Well, I spoke to soon! I just went to check on him and he was eating hay and he pooped! He likes to keep me on my toes. Thanks for the advice everyone! 🙂

LBJ10 replied to the topic Stopped eating pellets and greens, but is still eating hay? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
The sooner the better. This will ensure the problem doesn’t progress and she can simply go back to eating normally once the problem is resolved. I would monitor her in the meantime. If she is still eating, then you should be OK. If you notice a decline, then you can supplement with Critical Care (or pellet mash).

Bam replied to the topic How do you encourage bunny to eat hay? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
It’s highly reasonable not to change the diet of a grieving rabbit. I suggest you decrease the amount of pellets starting next week or so. Little by little,, so his GI microbes get used to a hay-based diet.

He’s eaten everything that I’ve offered him today, I just wish he would poop!

There’s no way to say really, but then the important thing is that he’s eating and pooping like he should now. The treat test (offering a yummy treat) is really great for determining if a bun has gastric upset. Whatever it was, if it’s come through it’s come through. I’ve had buns and dogs that ate the silliest things and they were just “Never you…[Read more]

That’s true, he’s been laying around for most of the day, so it does make sense that he hasn’t pooped since this morning- I guess that’s not necessarily indicative of an issue. His appetite is totally normal though, he’s eating hay and treats when I offer them. Hopefully he will poop tonight. I’m not even completely sure if he DID eat string, I j…[Read more]

Thank you both for your advice! 🙂
I think that you’re right – the signs she’s showing now are probably the early stages of a dental issue. I live in a small town, where only one vet takes rabbits, though I’m not sure if this issue is too serious for them? I imagine that the process with require some form of anethesia, and I had to take my girls…[Read more]

Just clean the box and keep monitoring. He sounds like he’ll be fine! Amount of poop follows their activity. Lounging = less poop. You’ll learn your bun’s cycle, through observation.

He’s still acting normal and he’s eating and drinking great. He had hay, a few treats, and some soaked basil. I am a little bit worried because he hasn’t pooped since around 9 am, but he did poop a lot overnight.

Oh ok! When we first got them, I asked the vet about pellets because the previous owner told us they fed their bunnies a grain diet (meat bunnies). So, the vet told us to feed a cup of pellets per bunny, one cup of greens/herbs/fruit mix and hay. Ben is a Rex rabbit. He currently weighs 6.5 lbs and was at the vet on Sat.
I will try reducing…[Read more]

Glenn is right, if you act on early symptoms you hopefully never ever have to deal with the more profound issues such as overgrown tooth roots, abscesses, crowded teeth etc.

It was short lived. After that, someone hopped over and war broke out.
But, later one, during exercise time where I decided only to let one out, BUN1 was found grooming BUN2; first grooming since the giant fight a few months ago.
With the barrier raised and towel over the entire barrier, BUN1, for the first time since giant fight, is lounging…[Read more]

I wouldn’t necessarily rule out dental issues due to her not showing the other symptoms. The symptoms you found when you looked it up sound like more severe symptoms whereas lack of eating can be an early symptom. I only speak from experience as when i notice one of my rabbits eating a little less hay than usual I took him to the vets and they…[Read more]

A dental problem can manifest before the signs you mention, and Utsätta wise not to wait for those nabufearations. In most cases you only need one or two molar burrs and that fixes the problem. Its wise to get a rabbit savvy vet to have a look. If its a young bun, the teeth can get back on the right track after a few burrs, 3-6 months apart.…[Read more]

I worked with Silver a bit this morning on eating some greens, and made some small improvements! She tentatively sniffed the bowl before pulling out a piece for her to eat. She ate the whole piece, then went away to sit down for a bit. I took another small piece from the bowl and, upon much prompting, she ate that one, too. I’m taking this as a…[Read more]

Dental problems can arise out of the blue – or rather, the manifeststioms that arise out of the blue. It can asppen from one day to another, and I know this because it was how my Vilde’s dentai issues presented.
Rabbits go on until they nolonger can.

That’s lovely! Running around and eating like crazy is exactly the type of behavior a bun owner likes to see!
