The timing is just weird I guess.. it only happened once he actually started taking the antibiotics. He’s not on painkillers, just the antibiotics and he’s taking Azithromycin

Okay, so after I applied the Clindamycin lotion to my face this morning, I just washed my hands and then did his litter box, refilled his hay/pellets, and gave him his treat. He will probably be totally fine, right?

No he’s only on antibiotics- no pain killer. I also feel like the antibiotics aren’t working. He’s still sneezing and his nose is still whistling and its been 8/10 days of the antibiotics.
The antibiotics are suppressing his appetite which I was told could happen. At first he would eat nothing and now he’s eating most of his veggies, some pellets…[Read more]

i called them earlier and now they’re saying they dont have any pain medicine that would be safe for rabbits. i’ll call again and ask if they have metacam but im assuming they dont.
i checked her incision and it looks like it has some scabs is that normal? im trying to add a picture on here but it isnt working. if she doesnt eat on her own by…[Read more]

Keep feeding grass if that’s what she wants. You should also syringe feed some pellet mush before you go to bed tonight, if she hasn’t started eating properly by then.
As I wrote in your other thread, I think you should try and get pain medication for her. That she was groggy and unwilling to eat yesterday was probably due to the pain meds she’d…[Read more]

I think you should call your vet and ask for a prescription for Meloxicam (Metacam, loxicom are common brand names). Tell them exactly what you’ve said here, that she’s not eating, not moving around much and that you’ve heard her chop her teeth. Not all rabbits “bounce back” after a spay. Some do, but others don’t and what you’re describing are…[Read more]

my rabbit was spayed yesterday, i fed her breakfast (1 tablespoon pellets) at 5am. i picked her up from the vet at 4pm. they asked me to bring food for her to eat after the surgery but wont give me an answer to whether she ate the veggies i brought with her or not. yesterday she didnt eat at all but drank water herself. she was very groggy and sat…[Read more]

I agree that unless the antibiotics are inducing a GI-disagreeing reaction, it is unlikely the antibiotics. The act of being forcefed antibiotics can be stressful/anxiety provoking, in addition to feeling ill over having an infection to begin with.
What antibiotic were you prescribed?

Since rabbit socialization works in a hierarchical fashion (i.e., dominant vs. submissive roles), it is not unusual for grooming behavior to be skewed; that being said, being bullied/excluded is not a healthy dynamic either. Does it appear they are all truly a bonded trio or are the remaining pair simply tolerating Fawkes? How are interactions…[Read more]

Hello everyone!
I had two pairs of rabbit for many years (Scotch+Fawkes and Jax+Jin). Unfortunately, in January one of my rabbits passed away (Scotch), so I bonded my third rabbit (Fawkes) into my remaining pair (Jin+Jax) without much issue at all, much to my surprise.
The problem now is, although there is no fighting or any aggressive behavior,…[Read more]

she seems a little bit better, a couple hours ago i got her to eat a few pieces of grass and a couple bites of lettuce but she hasnt ate since then. she’s still using the litterbox some but not pooping nearly as much as she usually does which is expected since she isnt eating. shes mostly just been laying in the corner of her cage. i did hear her…[Read more]

I’m not sure this is about the antibiotics, it could perhaps be the infection itself. Is he on any painkiller together with the antibiotics? How is his appetite?

Hi I have a 4.5 month old satin mix. He recently got a respiratory infection and was prescribed antibiotics for it.
His whole personality has changed though. I expected a change in eating habits and maybe a bit lethargic while taking them but I’m worried his personality isn’t gonna come back.
my bun isn’t scared of much and now he’s shaking…[Read more]

Violet light has a short wavelenght, meaning its very intense. It has an even shorter wavelenght than blue light, and we all know that blue light from f ex phones and tablets can affect our ability to sleep at night, and most newe devices come with an optional blue light filter.
Rabbits respond rather profoundly to even moderate increases in…[Read more]

I’m happy to hear he’s fine! If he’s escaping by jumping out maybe you could make a roof by attaching a bedsheet or similar to the top of the pen so he can’t escape?
