DanaNM replied to the topic Boston, MA – Fostering a teen bun in need of a home! in the forum RESCUE EFFORTS FOR SHELTERS 4 years, 6 months ago
Thank you for helping out with this bunny!
Have you been in touch with the House Rabbit Network? https://www.rabbitnetwork.org/
They are a MA based rescue that has fosters all over the New England. They may be able to help provide a foster or assist in some other ways (especially if you volunteer to continue being a foster parent while they help…[Read more]

That’s excellent!!
Always good to have options!
Have you tried the photo trick of adding it to your profile first, so it shows up in your media library?

First date with Theo went really well. Thanks @DanaNM for the advice! They just sort of sniffed each other and hopped about around each other. The both seemed curious and wanting to play, but not quite sure. Theo groomed a couple times, where Dorian would come check in with me and then go back. We kept it at roughly 10 minutes. Wish I could upload a photo!

PLEASE NOTE: Io and her siblings are from a RESCUE LITTER and were not intentionally bred.
Looking for either a forever home or another foster!
A few of you have heard this story now a couple times: back at the end of November, my partner and I were visiting my friend in Maine, who told us they had been seeing a large domestic rabbit around…[Read more]

It’s only happened in the past few hours, nothing in his room that could have caused him to damage them. I’m completely stumped!

Could your bun be part rex? Rex rabbits have curly whiskers. I have a mini rex and her whiskers are curly. My other siggestion is if he’s been close to f ex tea candles. Buns are curious and like to stick their noses into things.

My Thumper’s whiskers have all curled up on one side of his face, it could only have happened in the past few hours and I’ve no idea how it’s happened.
Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Last night I tried something different. S&S have run of our three seasons room while Rascal has free roam in the living room. The two rooms are separated by a sliding door. I really want to have positive associations so we opened the sliding door, put both our baby gates up (one in each room’s side) so nobody could get close enough to bite, and we…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Still trying to figure out what caused Milo's death in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 6 months ago
In the past, people have had some luck with contacting Dr. Dana Krempels for cases that fall under the umbrella of advanced rabbit medicine.
I’m not sure if she would respond these days, as I’m sure she gets a ton of messages, but it might be worth a shot?
You might reach out and share Milo’s story with her. Looks like she’s still listed as…[Read more]

Thanks so much for your replies!
He does have longish fur, he is a fluffy mini lop. I try to trim it as best as possible.
He eats hay well and has constant supply. Veggies occasionally as they don’t tolerate much very often. They have pellets, but we have been trying to increase them slighty as they are all coming up underweight. But this issue…[Read more]

Yea, I’ll try that after the next grooming coming up. I’m just so scared to free roam them again after their last tiff… I don’t like keeping them in the pen with their beady eyes peering out 🙁

Hmm, that is unusual, and it does sound like they are maybe friends but not super tightly bonded.
One trick people will do to help with possible issues after a vet visit is to rub a towel on both rabbits to swap their scents around. I wonder if you could try something like this? And maybe put them in a neutral area together for a little while…[Read more]

Both rabbits get groomed in my house, but get turns getting groomed on my dining table. The bonding breaking due to the stress of grooming makes sense that they have a weak bond. When they are bonded my Angora flops and cuddles into my Lionhead. My lionhead follows the Angora around. I see them cuddling and being near each other. They don’t groom…[Read more]

When they get groomed it is a groomer. However she comes to my house. I thought that would’ve solved their unbonding issue but didn’t. When she grooms them she takes turns doing them one at a time on my dining room table. My bunnies usually free roam my house. Usually bonding them back together takes 2-3 days using the 24/7 method. But since the…[Read more]

Totally love his ‘tude too… I wish I could upload a photo as Theo has a bit of a grumpy old man face too. It’s still saying something went wrong when I go to the photo section.
Also now have an official play date with Waffles as well for Sunday. She is definitely a stunner, her dad is grey like Dorian but a loop and her Mom is a very regal…[Read more]

- Depends — if one went to the groomers and the other didn’t, then that can definitely break a bond, similar to one rabbit going to the vet and not the other. In that case, they could have been bonded but it broke due to a ‘valid’ reason (i.e., scent change). If this is occurring as a result of at-home grooming and that stressor is tensing the…
