It is true that it’s difficult for the human to recognize illness in a rabbit, and that is often why the decline can be seem so swift and dramatic. We simply don’t understand that something is wrong until something is really, really wrong. Rabbits do their utmost to prevent anyone from noticing that they’re poorly.
Rabbits have a different…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Using bleach on rabbit laundry? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 5 months ago
If it’s color-safe and chlorine free it’s probably oxygen bleach, which is not toxic. I use it all the time, f ex for bed sheets ,and my bun is free roam and allowed on beds etc.

Honestly if it was well washed out, I wouldn’t be too concerned unless your rabbit actively ingests a lot of it (which itself is not good without bleach).

Hi all, so it’s been a few weeks since I started bonding my rabbits Beatrice (2yr old Holland lop female) and Bernard (6mo old Holland lop male). We started off in the kitchen as that was neutral territory, things went well they were indifferent there was only one mounting episode. We went to a friends cottage over the weekend and they were in t…[Read more]

You need to take your rabbit to a vet, preferably a rabbit-experienced exotic vet. Treatment for parasitic organisms and worms shouldn’t be done at-home without guidance and you also need a professional to actually diagnose and accurately assess what’s actually going on. At the minimum, your rabbit is likely in pain. You need to have him seen as…[Read more]

Okay so I’m looking at the bottle and it says “Chlorine-Free” Bleach Color Safe and then underneath it says – non-corrosive, odorless, perfume and dye free. He added 1/2 of a cup to the load of laundry with all 10 fleece blankets. They do not smell strong and I just put them on for an additional rinse and spin cycle. Should I toss them and repla…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I use small fleece blankets for the bedding in my rabbit’s cages. I was washing them today with the normal detergent that I use, and my dad texted me and said that he added bleach to them because they smelled bad. There were about 10 small fleece blankets in the load. Is this safe for the rabbits? I don’t want to have to throw out and…[Read more]

I go with the Timothy one. I switched to their free choice, as my two aren’t big on hay. But at times, they will eat more hay, since switching.
I know they really like the Sherwood food!

First Date!!
We met in the bathroom which is neutral territory. Didn’t have any toys or food (other than both got a treat for the ordeal of being carried to the room). Tried to time it for their sleepier time. Meeting time ended up around 1 hour. Had planned on half that, but it was going so well. I’ll try and run down the highlites, I think it…[Read more]

Subcut fluid is administered by needle is that correct? There’s no way I’d get my bun to sit long/still enough to get a needle in him. Both buns will jump or run at the first chance.
Mine hate handling so much that the 3 times I groomed her on a table she went into stasis!!! Even though it was 20 minute max and I went as gentle as I could.
Ive…[Read more]

So, Myra’s hocks were getting better at our old place, but I just noticed they seem to have gotten worse. I think they are still in the callus phase. We have all the same rugs that we did at our old place, plus I just lined their whole pen with shepette (a faux shearling fabric), so I’m stumped!
My only suspicion is that Myra has taken to hanging…[Read more]

The rapidness is taking into account size – the same size bone breakage in a human would take longer to heal even when put into a cast, whereas bun was untilizing the limb. With surgery and bone break incidents, exact date of occurrence is know as well as when roughly healed (via imaging). Maybe I’m imagining but feels this way.
I thought the…[Read more]

I have a 10 week old bunny who’s been with me for a week now, first week was absolutely bliss.
He’s generally happy he’s binkying and flopping but past week he has taken to nipping and biting me. I mean actually biting as well, he’s really into biting my chin and nose sometimes as well, it is marginally painful when he does, he also has bitten…[Read more]
