Hi, all hope you are having a wonderful day! I had a quick question about my previous rabbit who died a few months ago and I have no idea where to put this so I’m putting it here. Ok, so Snowball was about 3-4 when he died. Before he died he had diarrhea but got over that then weeks late I think he had a stroke of some type of something because…[Read more]

hi 🙂 so my current rabbit pumpkin (1 year old) is my first one, and i got her spayed recently. i would really like to get her a friend in a few weeks/months when her hormones are completely gone, but i dont know much about bonding them yet. pumpkin’s x pen is in my bedroom where she is free roamed most of the time and she hasn’t been around…[Read more]

I don’t find the time-out to work/make sense either — I don’t think many rabbits are going consistently and reliably make the several associations needed for that training tactic to work. Intuitively, I think it asks rabbits to understand the following: 1) nipping = bad, 2) put in cage = because you nipped me, 3) being put in cage = punishment…[Read more]

Thanks Dana. He’s very much a diva and he currently is only eating hay or dandelion if I hand feed him. His pellets went untouched and the greens that I didn’t handfeed.
That said they were doing the sniffing each other when Miu was in her expanded pen and I decided if I was going to do it, this was the best time. (I hadn’t seen you 2nd post)…[Read more]

FunnyBunny Mama started the topic Confused by Wilbert’s behaviour??? in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 5 months ago
Hello Bunny Lovers,
I’ve had my Wilbert for 7 years, he was neutered as soon as he was ready, probably between 6-8 months old.  He has always been free roaming and always used his litter box without any accidents…until we moved 3 years ago…he started to pee outside his box/cage. At first I figured behavioural as he wasn’t happy about moving…t…[Read more]

Appreciate your response, I also felt the same way when reading about holding their head down and similar methods, but was willing to give it a go.
I’ve had rabbits before and they’ve not been like this at all so was a little surprised he was so nippy so quickly.
I’ve had him coming up for three weeks now, I picked him up at 8 weeks old and he’s…[Read more]

The idea of trying to assert dominance over a rabbit via holding their head down or similar methods, to me personally, makes no sense and I have not heard of cases where it is reliably effective. If anything, it simply creates a negative association and the rabbit distances themselves from the owner, therefore eliminating whatever problematic…[Read more]

I have a 10-week old male who is absolutely the sweetest thing apart from the past week he has taken to biting the end of my nose and my chin he also tries to bite my lip.
The thing I don’t understand is if I just picked him up and he bit me, I could understand that however he is always licking me lovingly beforehand and I don’t get a gentle nip…[Read more]

Oh, you mean he might stop eating just in general? Then yes you should definitely take a break until he’s back to normal. He might do better with an every-other day bonding schedule. I did that with Bun Jovi most recently just to be sure not to over-stress him.

Hi DanaNM,
I just wanted to thank you again for the advice in this thread. In a time when I would question the smallest thing, knowing that the steps we were taking were the correct ones and what not to do helped massively.
After a few weeks of them living alongside one another. We decided to turn our bathroom into a neutral zone and placed some…[Read more]
