You can safely split your normal dose into two and give it every twelve, and I would tell you vet you are seeing a lot signs of pain and ask if you can increase the dose at all (and ask about giving it in 2 doses).

Wick has a good suggestion. A vet would be able to answer these types of questions much better than we can. We can only make educated guesses based on the information available to us. A vet may be guessing too, but they a have much more extensive knowledge base to rely on.
