Oh, but then she already has a “roof” of sorts! It’s just an instinct rabbits have, to find a resting spot sheltered from threats from above, primarily birds of prey.
As for the meloxicam, I should’ve asked you what Pumpkin weighs and what strength meloxicam you got. I calculated with a weight of 2 kilos and a strength of 1.5 mg/ml (metacam for…[Read more]

she’s getting 1.1 ml every 24 hrs, if she starts showing any signs of pain today i will definitely call the vet and talk to her about splitting the dose.
her x pen is in my closet, its not a seperate room or closed off or anything but my clothes at the top kinda give a little roof for her. i may try to put a blanket on the top too. im afraid to…[Read more]

so far today she hasnt really showed any signs that she’s in pain even before she got her meloxicam at 10am, but if she does i will call the vet and ask about doing that. she’s getting 1.1 ml every 24 hrs.
she ate a good bit of hay earlier today (compared to what she had been) so i think her appetite is better today, she refused her morning salad…[Read more]

I bought the litter from Chewy.com and they were so apologetic and told their warehouse right away. Purina is the brand and they’re doing a Quality Control investigation. I really hope they do.
I’ve been thinking about finding a way to make my own litter because it seems like all other brands have an foreign objects in theirs as well. It’s just…[Read more]

What dosage meloxicam is she on? Rabbits have a short small intestine so they tend to need a higher dose of most drugs compared to cats and dogs. As Dana says, you can split the dose in two and give every 12 h instead of once per 24 hours.
Rabbits often like a “roof” of some sort, inte doesnt have to be a house, a chair or a small table will…[Read more]

Jess started the topic Sudden passing; Why did she die? in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 4 years, 5 months ago
My bunny Juno passed away suddenly and with no warning yesterday morning.
If anyone has any ideas what may have caused her passing so quickly it would really help bring me closure since I feel extremely guilty I was not awake in time to bring her to vet.
I was awake and in the same room as her 6 hours earlier and she had seemed fine. She mainly…[Read more]

Some vets under-dose metacam, and it tends to be metabolized all within the first 8 hours. You can safely split your normal dose into two and give it every twelve, and I would tell you vet you are seeing a lot signs of pain and ask if you can increase the dose at all (and ask about giving it in 2 doses).
It sounds like she’s having gas pain, so I…[Read more]

I just went onto Dorian’s Instagram and I can totally see why you adopted Mui. She’s beautiful… she’s so unbelievably pretty. I’m straight up dying right now! ♡

I am always a fan of bun photos @cinnamon bun. Neo is a cute name too.
Thank Dana. So far the hard part is Dorian doesn’t want to be in the pen, he’s never spent the night anywhere but his room since I got him, so he probably feels confused. I ended up putting his favorite bed in there, I know that might be a bad idea with other buns, but he…[Read more]

No she isn’t with another rabbit, I only have her.
Luckily to me it doesn’t look like a deep wound, just kind of surface level.
I’ll have to get some plain Neosporin to use then!

Is she with another rabbit? This looks like aggressive mounting.
It looks like the top layer of skin was pulled off with the fur, so the area will be raw. You should try to clean it up as best you can. It’s safe to use plain Neosporin (no pain reliever) to help prevent infection. Depending on how bad it is, a vet may need to make sure nothing…[Read more]

I got home today and felt something weird on my bunnies skin. I looked and saw this. The only evidence I found was one small piece of fur under my bed with a little flesh or blood on it. She’s acting normal and not acting like it hurts. I bought some Vetericyn Plus antimicrobial wound care and spray some on like it said. After it dried up and all…[Read more]
