So Kotton has not been doing good after she returned home. Before she came home this past weekend, she was given SQ fluid everyday, and on Sunday she was taken off Meloxicam and was only on Cisapride. She started eating on her own both hay and pellets and had good poop so we took her home on Monday.

Yesterday she was eating hay ok, slow with…[Read more]

Thanks Bam, he did end up recovering. Seems the regular feeds of fresh grass did the trick and he was eating hay again later that night. I’m going to have to keep a very close eye on him I think.

I haven’t ever found foreign objects in Oxbow pellets. I would contact them. I’m sure they will replace the bag.

They talk about molasses in their blog, if that helps at all: https://www.oxbowanimalhealth.com/blog/cane-molasses-why-is-it-in-my-pets-food/

Since rabbits can’t speak, the number of ways they can communicate with us is extremely limited. A rabbit nipping you is a call for attention, and the reason for that attention can vary greatly.

    Some possibilities include:
    – Get out of my way.
    – Give me treats/food.
    – Give me attention.
    – Stop giving me attention.

… or, as you mention, an…[Read more]

Hi, I adopted my 2 month old bunny some days ago, so far we seem to get along pretty well, I’ve been doing my research but I will probably still ask a lot here, as I never really had a bunny before.

I’ve taken time to bond with my bunny and so far she seems to like me. When I sit down she starts licking me and from what I’ve searched she’s trying…[Read more]

Please see our bonding guide for information on the bonding process: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/bonding/

As @attemptedquad mentions, give the new rabbit at least a week to “settle-in” first and feel more secure in the environment, then you can simply move slowly with just pre-bonding (no dates).

To maximize the likelihood of successful…[Read more]

I’d let him settle in a bit first! Lots of prebonding and confidence building (lots of pets, allow for exploration, normal good bun parent stuff). I wouldn’t worry too much about history with other animals- it will be completely different with other bunnies, as long as both are obvious fixed for a few weeks first. My first bun had LOTS of trauma…[Read more]

So I will be getting a new bun in a couple weeks because his owner is no longer able to care for him. She told me he likely has a bit of trauma because she’s tried to bond him with her dog in the past. Any advice on bonding him with my current bun and well bonding with him as well. I don’t want any fights to break out because he is terrified 🫤

Dana, the clicker training is brilliant! I have never used a clicker before for training. I’ll have to look into it!

BTW, a little silver lining from this illness we just went through is that the technician who took Kotton home to nurse had sent her bunny home with us (due to space limitation at her home). The bunny we kept for two days is a big…[Read more]

Aww I’m sure she will! My best advice is to play “hard to get” and basically ignore her for a while. 🙂

    Thanks everyone!

Not sure about a name yet, me and my partner can’t quite decided on which one suits her best.

She wont really let me pet her yet, runs, thumps and hides if I try to pet her, but if I sit in the room for long periods of time she will anxious start to forage around her pen, groom a little and eat some cecals as long as I make no…[Read more]

Hmmm, that’s a bit odd. 2 tablespoons is a very small amount of pellets for a young rabbit. I don’t want to go against the vet advice, but you might ask them again, because that is much less than most people feed a 5 month old rabbit (usually it’s closer to 1/4 cup if not unlimited). When rabbits grow it is normal for them to get longer/taller…[Read more]
