It’s upsetting that many caregivers do not realize how much work and effort rabbits (and other pets) require. I guess all we can do now is educate others (when possible), learn from our mistakes and help other animals when possible.

She is so cute!  This will be your last gift to her, try to think a little bit positive here.

Since you just adopted her, I would talk to the rescue, they may be able to help out with the recent vet bills! Some rescues do this!

I completely agree with Bam and Azerane. When I was young I too had rabbits in hutches outside that I now feel horribly about. Thanks for the info! I’m sure the sugar content of grass is low, even for a high sugar grass but you really have to be careful with special needs buns!

The way you describe it she wasn’t feeling ill: rabbits often withdraw if they feel ill. It all points to something that was unexpected and quick. I hope that you can find some solace in that.

It could be that your bun’s arthritis is causing him pain so that he’s become very tender to the touch.
