I agree with the others. I would hold off on trying to pick her up and hold her for now. She needs time to disassociate human hands with “bad” things. I would suggest just spending time in her presence, but not trying to touch her. You can sit on the floor and allow her to grow accustomed to you. If she is curious and approaches, you can try…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic What to feed 1 month old rabbit in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 4 months ago
Do NOT feed them veggies yet– correct; their GI system is way too underdeveloped to handle them. You can start slowly introducing veggies at 12 weeks old, one-by-one in small amounts.
Since they are already weaned, yes you can feed them hay and pellets. Being young, they should ideally be on alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets, both “unlimited”.…[Read more]

I’d have your rabbit assessed by a vet — if she’s drinking an excessive amount of water, that can be indicative of a variety of underlying conditions. Some that come to mind are dental and organ function-related. Separately, if she is peeing on herself, there may be something re: her movement/general discomfort leading to that. I recommend…[Read more]

8’m very sorry you lost Guppy. She was very young, far too young to be separated from her mother and siblings. It’s very difficult to care for such a very young bun, they’re extremely fragile when they’re so young.
Binky free, little Guppy.

You are noting a lot of territory delineations, which makes me wonder if active sessions are currently happening in a truly neutral area or not? Truly neutral is different from semi-neutral — semi-neutral is where both rabbits have visited, but at separate times, while true neutral is where neither rabbits have been (like the table bonding you…[Read more]

First, I wonder if she is spayed. If not, a lot of her “aggression” may be coming from hormonal-mediated territorialness which not only would react to you and your husband, but also to the scent of other rabbits (which you and your husband likely smell of, considering how good rabbits are at smelling).
While it appears she “doesn’t mind being…[Read more]

Thank you for rescuing this bun!
If she came from an unfit home, she might not hace hsd the best experiences with humans. This could be why she’s acting hostile towards you. It’s a good thing really, it means she has bunnitude and strenght just like a young adult girl bun should have. It could also have to do with her knowing that there are…[Read more]

To my knowledge, dandelions aren’t super high in sugar so there isn’t a concern like overfeeding treats… that being said, dandelions flowers aren’t going to provide much of anything (I imagine) into daily diet unless it’s a significant number, and I personally would opt to see if the hunger motivates her to eat something else instead of…[Read more]

I omitted some details in your post as reading about how you attempted to clean Guppy’s fur may be distressing for some users since baths are generally not recommended for rabbits and we’d like the focus of this topic to be supporting you during this difficult time.
I am so sorry to read about Guppy’s unexpected passing — you certainly cared…[Read more]

Hello, my husband and I recently rescued a bunny from an unfit home. We have 2 of our own. We keep her separated from ours for the time being. My question is how do I help to calm and tame her? She hasn’t bitten us but she grunts and smacks us. Once we get ahold of her she doesn’t mind being held and loved but catching her is the problem. I give…[Read more]

Hi Barn and Dana,
Yes Kotton got her teeth filed down and the vet reviewed her teeth and said that they are fine (no cracks).
Mirataz seemed to have helped her a lot. The first night we gave her (1.5 inch of gel-cream rubbed on her ears where there is no fur), she had a really good night of eating and drinking with lots of poop. The second day…[Read more]

Spay/Neuter
Before getting to the problem, the background info:
Male, Dax, ~4-5 years old, neutered years ago, Mini Rex, black
Female, Venti, ~1 year old (shelter says 6mo, but she’s too big for that), spayed about 25 days ago, New Zealand, white
Prior to this, Dax has been the only animal in the house since adoption 3 years ago, and the only…[Read more]

I’m not familiar with Mirataz either. I found a small study on 9 rabbits who were given mirtazepine for 2 days. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S155750632100104X.
9 rabbits are of course very few rabbits and 2 days are just 2 days. It increased fecal output but didn’t seem to significantly increase appetite. It seems to be…[Read more]

Hey
So I have a little health question, she is recovering from her dental – which also caused a bout of stasis before she had the dental – hence the high cost of vet fees lol. The statsis was treated nice and early and she had a little input and out put befoee her anesthetic and dental. Since her dental its been the same, little input and output…[Read more]

Yikes, you can’t even use the bathroom while bonding bunnies!! I walked back into the living room and found the fence open, with Owen and Molly both out. One of the two has learned how to open the door in the fence panel 😯 Luckily there was no fighting like the last time they were together.
We’re in the process of hutch swapping now. Bonding…[Read more]

Ellie from The Netherlands replied to the topic Bunnies seem equally matched and neither submits yet: it turned into 2 fights. in the forum BONDING 4 years, 4 months ago
Okay, I’m convinced: hutch swapping was the best step to take. They accidentally broke loose today and there was no fighting! After I’d fed them I went to the bathroom, and when I came back somebunny had found a way to open the door in the fence 😯
They just switched hutches and started to chew hay, instead of turning into a bunny tornado like…[Read more]
