Lilly+Zoe started the topic Hay in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 4 months ago

I’ve tried buying hay from smaller businesses because then I know it’s fresher and better for her and she loves it. I’ve ordered from two different companies one had issues with there being dead bugs in it and the other I had issues with there being larger rocks and tiny rocks that she could have choked on. Has anyone else had issues like this…[Read more]

I always give a digestive oxbow treat twice a day once at 8AM and 5PM which they always take. But sometime after that during the night i shake it just to make sure they’re ok lol idk I’m paranoid. Anyways, I’ve noticed that whenever my male bunny who is around 4-5 year old gets in his box to relax he just stays there and ignores me shaking the t…[Read more]

Adorable! For reference, they should be separated at 12 weeks. For now it’s good they are together since they are so young. 🙂

I recently had a convo with my husband that we thought it would be cute to name a group of buns after apple varieties!

So many good ones: Crispin, Fuji, Gala, Macintosh, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, LOL!

    Another idea we had…[Read more]

You can start a separate naming topic, if you’d like so others can contribute knowing based on the topic name what you’re looking for!

Please note that you should anticipate on separating and housing these rabbits separate from each other in the near future, not only to prevent accidental pregnancy, but also to eliminate the risk that they may…[Read more]

Ok, thank you so much! I’ve been giving them unlimited Timothy and alfalfa hay and young rabbit pellets.

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁 I know you had to make a tough decision, and I’m sure it was the right one, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

And what a beautiful tribute. <3

DanaNM replied to the topic Original rabbit aggressive when bonding? in the forum BONDING 4 years, 4 months ago

I would give the bathtub a shot! Sometimes it seems like neutral spots become less neutal when bonding takes a few weeks, so it’s good to change up locations, as long as they are all similarly neutral.

Another thing to experiment with is the size of the space. I’ve had the best luck with really large spaces, so if the bath tub doesn’t go well,…[Read more]

I have not. I was thinking of trying a date in a bathtub today just to make it a little more stressful.

The dates are currently in a baby playpen I purchased that’s sitting in a bedroom they’ve never been in.

Do you think it’s worth trying the bathtub or sticking with what I’m currently doing?

That sounds like you have made some progress, but very slowly.

Have you tried any stressing techniques? A 10 min car ride each day for a few days in a row can be very helpful in these types of bonds.

    Made it home!

All 4 buns did great and started eating right away after we got home. Such troopers!

I’m so relieved! Not looking forward to having to do that drive again in 3 weeks, but hopefully by the time they need their booster it will be more readily available!

Bam replied to the topic Lionhead bunny molting… advice? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 4 months ago

Absence of poop is always a concern. My advice is give him 0.5 -1 ml (cc) simethivone baby gas drops every hour for 3 hours. If he’s still not eating or pooping after 3 doses, I’d contact a vet.

A vet can give sub q or iv fluids and determine if there is a GI blockage. If there isn’t a GI blockage, they can give gut motility drugs like Reglan or…[Read more]

There should be multiple options, yes.

They can go by different names, but bactrim and baytril are oral antibiotics. See here for rabbit-safe antibiotics: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Common_drug_dosages_for_rabbits

Please make sure you are seeing a rabbit-experiencer exotic veterinarian as well.

Injectable penicillin is also a possible tx…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I have a 2.5 year old lionhead bunny that is currently molting like crazy. Last night I noticed that he hadn’t pooped as much and when I woke up this morning, there were some small and abnormally shaped poops in his litter box. I brushed him really well this morning and got a TON of fur off of him, so I’m hoping that will help. I jus…[Read more]

I am sorry for your pain. I’m sorry that our furry companions can’t stay longer. It was Clara’s time, she made it to 12 because she had the best life with the best bun parent.

But no words can take away that pain.
