I hope this is the right topic place to post this, if not I’m sorry.
Anyway, recently on tumblr I saw a post about someone ranting about misinformation on rabbit care and they said something’s that I know were incorrect but they made it sound like they were an expert. So I was wondering if some real experts could clear a few things up! I don’t…[Read more]

Still bonding and it feels like I’m in a rut. We typically bond for at minimum 30 minutes and there are times when we’re able to supervise for an hour. After about an hour, Rascal seems ready to end so we usually let him go rest. We’ve also had to take some nights off because of my work schedule or when Smudge decided to impale himself with a…[Read more]

So while Apollo has been taking his medication on leafy greens, he did leave a little last night that he wouldn’t finish due to it tasting funny and this morning he took a lot of convincing to eat them so I decided that tonight we would syringe them to him again rather than risk losing a full dose of the meds onto leaves that he wouldn’t eat. I…[Read more]

Adam started the topic Matted tail from persistent incontinence, how to clean. in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 4 months ago
So despite a lot of effort from myself and our vet, my girl has had incontinence and loose stool for well over a year and it’s created a permanent matting of her tail that has resisted baby shampoo, pet dry shampoo, vinegar, olive oil, diaper cream, lots of slicker brushing, butt baths, etc. And some of these are not easy to get her to cooperate…[Read more]

I too would go to another vet. I had an older bun that had a respiratory infection and got Bactrim for it. My vet is very rabbit savvy, and made it quite clear that if the Bactrim didnt help, Baytril would be the next step. Luckily my bun recovered after 2 weeks on Bactrim.
My bun also got meloxicam (an NSAID, i e an anti- inflammatory…[Read more]

“Don’t Shoot the Dog” is a great book! My roommate a decade ago was a dolphin trainer and had a copy!

Red romaine is totally safe 🙂 The only lettuce to avoid is iceberg, all of the others are fine.

That’s very odd, baytril is really commonly given to rabbits!
I agree that a second opinion is a good idea!

Yes my vet is on the list of rabbit savvy vets in my area, however the fact they tell me she cannot have another option of antibiotic is strange to me. I rang up and asked for an alternative antibiotic, and suggested that we try baytril, to which she told me she wouldn’t prescribe as it wasn’t recommended for rabbits. I explained my other Rab…[Read more]

You could try getting a hepa filter to clean the air in your bunnies room. It takes out pollen, dust, other bad stuff in the air etc.

So my little guy loves green romaine but there’s the red romaine mixed in and I wasn’t sure if he could eat that or not. Does anyone have experience with this?
Thank you!

As Dana says, young pets will do pretty much anything to get your attention. Any and all attention is better than no attention. This is why an angry or annoyed response won’t deter the (young) pet -the attention is rewarding in itself. You dont even have to actually do anything – a sigh and/or annoyed glance are enough to reinforce the annoying…[Read more]

Even if you need to move spaces when sessions get longer, I think starting out in your bathroom for at least the short sessions would work well. Even if Kyoshi has been in there a couple times, it would still be more neutral than your room. Rabbits are super smell-oriented, and a bathroom can more easily be wiped down with vinegar and smell…[Read more]

I understand! The teenage bunny years can be stressful! Is there a particular thing he’s been destroying? Perhaps we can give some additional bunny-proofing tips. I like to use NIC cube grids to block of problem areas.
If he rattles his pen bars (and drives you crazy), you can try clipping a sheet or towel over the pen wall with binder clips.…[Read more]

My young girl bun gets fresh apple twigs every day. This is obviously difficult to achieve unless you know someone who has pesticide-free apple trees that get pruned in the spring. There are plenty of other trees that are bunny safe, though. Willow works almost as well as apple, and willows are practically never treated with pesticides.
I also…[Read more]
