Hi so my 4 month old rabbit Judy who I got a week ago isn’t the most active, and I put out her veggies around an hour ago and there still there, I also cleaned out her liter box and put her fresh hay out and pellets and she also hasn’t touched them, just wondering if anyone thinks I should be worried.

In the absence of other symptoms, I’m going to say condensation then. A little dampness from condensation is normal.

So Im trying to bond my two males (winston, my original bun and oreo, the newcomer). Last night I started with having a gate in the middle of the hallway while they eat their veggies. At first they were both terrified of each other and then began to get more comfortable. I ended that session with giving them both a treat and that went really well.…[Read more]

“There are many rabbits who really need loving people like you. You can never replace a lost rabbit, but you can add another one.”
Well said! Or you can end up adding 3, like in my case, LOL

That’s tough. Most pairings do work out though, especially male-female. Maybe if they can’t do speed dating, they would still allow a foster-to-adopt trial period?
I would inquire about neutered males that generally do well with other bunnies. It’s really hard to gauge how personalities will blend, but they should have an idea of how the rabbits…[Read more]

You can also dehydrate herbs and veggies in a low oven with the door propped open by a wooden spoon! I’ve seen people make kale chips this way. 🙂

Ellie I’m glad to hear there weren’t any issues with Owen. Young rabbits are so very different to middle-aged and older buns. Apollo and Luna really don’t do much at all, lol.
Bam, hopping mice are the cutest things. I could only find this picture of a hopping mouse on my computer at the moment from a pet store. I’m not actually sure if it’s a…[Read more]

Yes! It’s just a small little amount right under his nose at the very top of his lip, but it isn’t dripping out of his nose.

My bun Vilde had to leave last summer after an extended period (+18 months) of very poor health. He was the sweetest little bun, light as dandelion fluff. He used to wake me up in the morning by digging on my face. He loved flopping next to me on the sofa when we were wstching TV 🥰
When he was gone I couln’t bear the thought of getting another…[Read more]

And it’s just damp under his nose? If so, then it is likely just condensation from his breath. But if it’s running down onto his lip, then that would suggest an actual nasal discharge… even if it’s clear.

Az, I’ve never even hesrd of Spanien hopping mice! Must google! I follow a few Aussie wombat rescue accounts on insta, though. I obviously cant get to foster a wombat, but maybe you could and post a gazillion pics for us to feast our eyes on? 😃 😂 (Jk, of course).
Ellie, I so hear you about young rabbits! I think cuddliness comes with time though.…[Read more]

My Holland Lop Luci had an URI. She had clear discharge but was also sneezing a lot. The vet gave her an antibiotic to take but after 2 weeks with no improvement, he switched her to a different one and it cleared right up. There are different strains and some will respond to one antibiotic and not the other, but as to not put your bunny through…[Read more]

Yes, URIs are treatable and have a good prognosis, as long as the veterinarian is rabbit-experienced and understands that not all antibiotics are effective to all bacteria which cause URis (i.e., you may need to try a couple before finding the right one).

It’s completely clear and thin like water.

What does this discharge look like? From what you wrote, it sounds more like condensation.

Dana,
Thank you so much. It’s reassuring to know this is kinda normal. Yes we do have means and space for a companion for Luci, but the last time I checked for bunny speed dating at the rescue about 90 min away, they weren’t doing it due to Covid. I will check again, but in the chance they do not do it, should I just look for a bunny with a more…[Read more]

Thank you! Are respiratory infections generally relatively treatable with a good prognosis?
