Yes this is the thing i meant! She gets gassy from ingesting fur, because after i gave somethicone she went to litter box and there was fur in her droppings.

Thank you very much! I will keep giving her

    Oh Thankyou both!
she’s now home after a midnight trip to the vets! Vet had to cajole me to pick her up, emphasising that home was the best place, I was still unconvinced she liked home now!

Went straight behind the sofa like last time, tried to give her kale and mint…totally ignored me and then flopped! She flopped! After all of this she flo…[Read more]

I think most people wait until at least 9 months before spaying continental giants. They are big bunnies and the hormones help with bone development. And yes, she needs unlimited pellets right now. She can continue on unlimited pellets until she is done growing. Obviously, this takes longer for giant breeds, so I think Azerane is correct that you…[Read more]

Yes, pressing their belly to the floor is a sign of gas pain. Simethicone is for gas. It certainly doesn’t hurt anything and if your bunny is getting gassy from ingesting fur, then I don’t see any harm in giving some during a molt. If it helps, great!

Yes, I do think it is because of her molting and not anything you did. To be perfectly honest, some bunnies don’t really care if you’re there or not. As long as someone is caring for them and paying attention to them (if they desire attention), then they are OK. That person doesn’t have to be you 100% of the time. My parents have done a lot of…[Read more]

Fleece usually works pretty well for this. Soft, but not too slick.

To give a little background, my bunny is almost 9 years old. I live in an apartment and my floor is carpeted. I wanted to make him free range, but I have a lot of tech in my apartment, so that’s not possible. Therefore, I did the next best thing. I gave him 2/3 of my bedroom, including full access to my bed area. The carpet is somewhat rough, and…[Read more]

Thank you guys..yeah I’m only introducing new veggies slowly to her, yeah she eats every day but she seems to only eat a little of everything, today for the first time I had her downstairs for a couple of hours and she did pretty good she looked around a but, didn’t eat anything but she even Binkied once.

I would be concerned about the weight loss while she is still growing, and a loss of 400g is quite a large amount. Unlimited pellets until at least 6 months I would think, though as long as it wasn’t preventing her from eating hay you could keep them unlimited until 1 year because she is a giant breed.

Thanks for getting back so quick Dana!

How long should she be on unlimited pellets for would you say? I top up her bowl anytime I see it close to emptying so I don’t really understand why she’s losing weight but she’s got another appointment on Saturday so fingers crossed her weights up!

I think I read somewhere they can keep growing up to 18 mo…[Read more]

I think they meant to say can’t burp. My rabbit was visibly uncomfortable once and refusing to eat but after a dose of simethicone he was fine. I so think it works if the problem is gas.

    Aww congrats!

She should be getting unlimited junior pellets at this point, so if not then that’s an easy thing to change and will probably solve the issue!

I think with larger breeds many vets like to wait until the bun reaches their adult size just so their skeleton develops properly, so for a giant I think that could be 6-8 months? I need to…[Read more]

My bun has chronic dysbiosis and I help him keep his weight up and keep him interested in his food with pellets that have Timothy hay as the only ingredient. He gets them from exotix nutrition. There are probably other brands but it’s tough to find hay only with no other ingredients if other pellets don’t work for your rabbit. On the advice of his…[Read more]

I think you are being MUCH too hard on yourself!

To answer your questions at the bottom, if you need to give her meds, groom her, syringe feed her, etc., yes it’s important to be able to pick her up. She won’t be happy with you at the moment, but she will forgive you. Bunnies are more resilient than we give them credit for. Have your vet show you…[Read more]

Sometimes new, shy buns don’t like being watched too closely (as prey animals). I’m glad she finally ate though! I think as she gets more comfortable she’ll prob start eating better, but for now I would try not to hover too much.

At 4 months she’s also young and veggies are pretty new to her, so be sure not to introduce too many new foods at once.
