Yeah, I would get a second opinion. Water drinking is important, but is usually triggered by hay eating, so if a bun isn’t eating much, they won’t drink. And for poop to come out, food has to go in.

Hydration is of course important but in a case this severe and long lasting I am suspicious that fluids alone will get her back to normal.

So we came back from the vet yesterday after they gave her some iv and did ab and scull/dental xray and extra blood work.

Unfortunately the xray does not show any dental problem and the blood work shows her normal with slight elevation in liver number still, but only by a few numbers not like a double jump. As we have been giving her pedialyte…[Read more]

A moist nose is normal if the ambient sir is humid and/or the bun has been physically active. Rabbits only ever breathe through their noses, moisture from the air going in our out can depodit around the nostrils.

I have a 9 week old bunny that I’ve only had for a week but he had a few eye boogers yesterday but today just below his nose his fur it’s slightly moist. He’s still eating and drinking tons of water. It sounds like hormones are kicking in. Getting them spayed and then rebonding them later should solve the issue. Their bond was likely just a “baby bond”, which usually breaks once hormones enter the picture.

Older neutered males can develop hormonal issues due to increased levels in testosterone being produced by the adrenal glands. This is caused by an adrenal issue. I think Dana is on to something. This could just be hormonal behavior that is being translated into aggressive behavior.

Yes, some bunnies have to be weaned off of the meds if they have been given gut motility drugs, etc. for a long period of time. I hope you can get her vaccinated soon. It does seem weird that the vet would say that. I think the chances of her being vaccinated are very low. JG gave some good resources for vets. Do you have a picture? You may just be seeing the natural progression of a lop-eared rabbit actually becoming lop-eared. Thank you for your insights. I’m glad to hear that I was being too paranoid about new items. I also suspected similar things happened during his first stasis: had something new (in tiny amount) for a few days before.

Zimba, mine is going through something right now with a loss of appetite but mine has a slightly elevated liver number which the vet still thinks it’s not high enough to warrant an ultrasound.
