That is disappointing. I agree with Ellie, that doesn’t sound right.

just as a follow up, i went to rite aid (pharmacy tonight) and they gave me a 10 ml oral syringe. it’s a lot better than what i have. so im hoping it’ll work better. i’ve also now read that you can water critical care down more than the package recommends, so doing that too. thought i would add that.

Just to be sure: is she talking about the same concentration? I know that Metacam comes in different concentrations for cats and dogs: 0,5 vs. 1,5 mg/mL.
We have the dog version that’s 1,5 mg/mL and we were prescribed 10 times the weight of the bunny in dog equivalents. So a bunny weighing 1,35 kg gets the same as a 13,5 kg dog. The advised…[Read more]

Current situation: Hello folks. My rabbit (Bun) was absolutely fine 2 weeks ago. Took her to the vet for routine checkup, they said she had an ear infection and sent her back with drops. Started administering the drops, and within a day her appetite dwindled. Wasn’t eating as much pellets or drinking as much. Over the course of the week, got worse…[Read more]

You’re welcome ^_^
I completely understand about being nervous about anaesthesia. When our Owen went for his neuter I couldn’t eat a thing until he was back home, and he was a robust teenager… 😳🤦♀️
Let’s hear what the vet says, and their risk assessment for the situation.

Wow that’s eye-opening! I didn’t think the way hay is presented will affect a bunny’s appetite so much! I have a little bin that I will use later tonight to try to stand some hay up!
Today I cleared out her hay rack and put in new hay and she went for it. It’s by the poop tray with her water bowl. I noticed that she likes to have a few licks of…[Read more]

Thank you all, I will contact her vet and see what they say. I’m a little nervous about anesthesia, only because she had an ultrasound a few weeks ago with anesthesia and that’s what kicked this whole not eating thing into high gear. She also struggled to come out of it, and had to be kept a few hours longer due to her temp being too cold. How…[Read more]

Wow, what a journey you’ve made together with him! I’m in awe of your great care and love for him! 🥰
Just a quick question: is his other leg okay? A friend of mine has a rabbit who also developed problems in one of his legs. Because he favours the other leg there’s been a lot of pressure on the hock. He was developing a sore hock there, and wears…[Read more]

This is wonderful vaccine info, thank you both!
It makes perfect sense that this is what’s going on with his motility problems. It’s a relief that no underlying illness (like ec) is suspected! And I know what you mean about the gabapentin. My dog became a zombie on half the dose her vet prescribed. But it’s worth trying (like you have done) -some…[Read more]

Yes, I brought up the 12 hour dose splitting, and she was firm in wanting to do once a day! She did say since he’d been on the higher dose in the it was OK to continue, but wanted to see how the lower dose went. I chatted with a friend back at the rescue and she said the dose she gave me won’t do anything, so I’m really not too confident in her at…[Read more]
