Hmmm, it may be possible if you take it slow. It used to be more common for unspayed buns to be bonded with neutered males, but it does depend a lot more on the personalities of the buns. If he is mounting relentlessly or she acts very aggressively towards him at their first meeting then it’s unlikely to work out.

For what it’s worth, 8 may not…[Read more]

I wonder if she could be sensitive to an ingredient in her pellets, since you mentioned she gets pellets in the morning and has gas sometimes during the day.

Have you tried putting her on a hay-only diet temporarily to see if that improves things?

For veggies, bell pepper is not really unhealthy, but it also shouldn’t be a staple veggie, if that…[Read more]

I use shepette with BJ and I like to either comb it with the hairbuster comb or a rubber broom first, then shake it out outside before washing it.

I wash it on the “bedding” cycle (if your washer has one) with just the two pieces of shepette I have (I have two big ones), and dry it without anything else in there.

The lint trap does tend to be…[Read more]

    She’s beautiful!

I agree with those ears she could have some flemish in her. I’m not a breed expert but maybe some others will weigh in!

DanaNM replied to the topic Introducing a dog and a rabbit? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 2 months ago

If this dog is just visiting then it would be best if you just kept them separate. Dogs can give rabbits heart attacks just by frightening them, and even small shy dogs are dangerous to rabbits.

Now, if it was a dog that was going to be living with the rabbit then it could be worth doing a very slow introduction process, but since this is just…[Read more]

Thanks everyone! In her defense, she did approve a higher dosage, but just wanted me to see if he had the same benefits with a lower one?

But still, if something serious happened I’d want to have 100% confidence!

Ok thanks for the replies. Another thing I’ve noticed is she’ll lick me then turn around and pee in front of me.

After weeks of infrequent/intermittent nibbling on her Science Select pellets, H began eating pellets more regularly again last weekend. Since she is willing to eat pellets again, I am now feeding her half Science Select and half Oxbow adult timothy pellets. At this point I am feeding her about 2/3 her previous quantity, but she is definitely…[Read more]

I would say for safety sake, keep them separate, or if you have a C&C cage, you could bring it and your litterbox and other needs you have and see how it goes then possibly try to let them interact. One of my dogs has 0 interest in my bunny the other wants it as a sweet snack, so it can go either way. Safety over comfort if it comes to it.

Yes, it can be anything from attention to wanting to cuddle up to your skin. Our previous bunny Breintje loved skin contact, I found out when I was wearing shorts and he pushed back the fabric to lay against my leg.

I guess it’s a thing that bunnies get as well when they snuggle up: skin contact releases happy & relaxed hormones in all mammals.…[Read more]

    You’re welcome ^_^

We have quite a thick layer of hay in the boxes and our buns tend to poop in one corner. The poop doesn’t stick when they lay down in it. We also have the hay racks above their boxes, so they add small layers of hay to the box while they nibble.

Sometimes we scoop the poop out with an old spoon, but most of the time we leave…[Read more]

Thank you! I was going to buy one awhile ago but completely forgot about it. I’m not sure if I can find one to fit dahlias litterbox size but if that’s the case I’ll just order one from here. What do you do about the poops on top?

If she likes to lounge there, how about putting a plastic grid in the box? Top it with hay so she can relax, and the pee will drop through the holes onto the pellets (or whichever litter you’re going to choose).

does anybody know where to get paper pellet litter like yesterdays news? I had access to it for awhile up until now and I found out it was discontinued in April?? I tried looking for alternatives but most of them have baking soda and when I tried baking soda paper pellets with dahlia she became gassy and I’d rather not risk further use.

Yes, that does sound like dribbling instead of marking. It’s really good that you called the vet, I hope that she’ll be well soon!

    About marking:

We’ve got a girl who’s spayed, but marking again now her brother is ill. Rabbits can do that when they’re upset or when they want to challenge for dominance.

She leaves big puddles and small heaps…[Read more]
