Does he have the pain reaction when he’s biting down? Or swallowing? I wonder if it’s something that’s hard to pick up on an x-ray, like a crack in a molar.

I’m late to this. What your describing does sound like EC. Cataracts is another symptom and it a really bad cataract can cause distortion of the eyeball and weeping as well. Everything from the incontinence to the seizures to the head tilt match up with EC as well. Unfortunately, the test for EC isn’t reliable. It can look like there isn’t an…[Read more]

Another update: ct results didnt show large abnormalities in the brain nor spinal cord. However there is evidence of arthritis in her mouth and lower back and she might have some dental disease (suspected as she’s an avid hay eater but then she only started eating as a few bites while pooping) I’m not really sure why it happened but they’ll have…[Read more]

Right, unfortunate update. Apollo is on about day 43 of 60 of his antibiotics. I’ve been feeding pellets in decreasing intervals, he’s been fine every time until last night when he had a clear pain reaction, stopped chewing and dropped some pellets from his mouth. Needless to say I’m so disappointed. Will continue on until the end of his course…[Read more]

Yes I rang my vet last week but she said they didn’t have a time frame on when they would receive the vax so couldn’t even have a waiting list yet.

Deej started the topic Playpen area litter question in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 1 month ago
My approx 13 week rabbit is litter trained in the cage. I managed this in one week and im quite proud. But because she is not able to free roam at this time, I have an awesome waterproof playpen. However, for zoomies and room, I haven’t put a small litter pan in. So she poops and pees freely. I don’t want her to be confused. Should I implement thi…[Read more]

Yes, it’s very odd…
The pheromone spray arrived yesterday, and I sprayed it in her pen. She became a lot calmer during the day and is dropping fewer poops. I haven’t seen her spray urine yet. I really really hope that this is it and it was just anxiety.
If she doesn’t go back to normal in a few days we’ll have her hormone levels checked out by…[Read more]

Was the cause of the stasis ever determined? Were his teeth incl his molars examined? (The inner teeth of a rabbit can only be seen with an otoscope, snd the bun often has to be sedated for the vet to get a proper look. It is often about teeth when a bun that normally eats lots of hay siddenly stops eaing hay.

Bam replied to the topic New Bunny Momma – question in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
She does have big ears, but that doesnt have to mean she’ll become a really big bun. Her current weight should give you some clues as to how big she’ll get, if you’re fairly sure of her age. As an example, my bun weighed 1500 grams at 15 weeks (vaccination appointment), she’s now 14 months and fully grown and weighs 2100 grams.

Yes you can! Binkybunny sells a bunch 😁 I personally haven’t tried their hay but dahlia goes bonkers for all their toys. I think it’s worth a shot

Just scrolled back up again, I would try getting different cuttings of hay, considering he likes the crunchy ones better maybe he’s more suited for 1st cut hay. The wetter poops could be because he eats more grass than he does hay, grass is good for bunnies but you wanna watch out for if his poops are getting really moist/mushy. Maybe separate t…[Read more]

Aw 🙁 have you tried orchard grass? Considering he’s picky with things maybe give him something more plain so he doesn’t really have anything to pick out of? I’d definitely ask your vet about any possible issues, 6 months and still not eating much hay is concerning. How about the rest of his diet? What else does he eat and how much

He got stasis at the end of December and did not get off the medication until February. It’s been gradually improving but it’s nothing like it used to be. I know recovery from stasis is slow but I figured it’s been months now, so shouldn’t he be back to normal? I tried enticing him with other hay — botanical and oat. He hated both, especially the…[Read more]
