It is very good to scatter food or feed pellets in a treat ball etc, because it mimics how a wild rabbit forages. Rabbits are hard-wired to have to work for their food. Our domesticated buns retain a lot of their ancestors’ wild-type behaviours (as do horses, horses and rabbits are very similar digestion-wise).
A bun owner really needs to be…[Read more]

Thank you so much! He seems completely fine this afternoon. He is playing, eating, and pooping normally. I also thought that it would be very unlikely for an otherwise healthy adult bunny to choke on parsley or cilantro, but I just wanted to see what others thought. I am very worried all the time about him developing upper respiratory infections…[Read more]

I completely forgot to check for replies, oops! Lol I’ve been trying to stay off the internet for the last couple of weeks and completely forgot I made this post until I started bonding today.
I didn’t do any prebonding, but so far it seems to be going really great! Obviously preparing for tonight because naughty bunny scuffles tend to start up…[Read more]

Well it’s difficult to say. I had a bun that got aspiration pneumonia after having nrar choked on a pellet. Idid the bunny Heimlich and all and he was “fine” after -but he developped pneumonia later, which was successfully treated with a 2 week course of Bactrim (antibiotic). The only symptom I noticed was that he made a sort of twittering sound…[Read more]

Hi everyone, just realizing yesterdays news is discontinued. Has anyone found good alternatives? I can’t use horse stall pellets or wood stall pellets.
Is there a newspaper based replacement you would recommend? Thank you!!

Hey everyone! I have a quick question about choking and aspiration pneumonia. Most of the things that I have read seem to suggest that pneumonia is pretty uncommon in adult rabbits and it is usually secondary to an upper respiratory infection they goes untreated or a choking event. My bunny has never choked before, but today I was feeding him some…[Read more]

Hmm, she could be feeling a bit gassy and uncomfortable. My first step is usually a tummy rub and simethicone. Will she eat hay if you offer it to her by hand?

If it helps shes laying down with what it seems her body is stretched and i caught her sleeping, idk its so weird of her to be tired at this time. Ill monitor her to make sure shes eating hay.

My bunny this morning took her digestive treat and also ate her morning veggies, but after that she went and hid herself in her box. Now i gave them (bonded pair) their pellets and she didnt really come running for them until she heard her brother was eating but then she went back into hiding. Im a little scared bc this is not her usual routine.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I personally wouldn’t recommend the outdoor hutches indoors, often the timber is treated and it has a strong smell fresh out the box. I think a better home base option is a DIY wire grid cage, which is what I use, it has their litter trays, hay rack, hidey box, a water bowl, and I can close it up if needed. I do think…[Read more]

It’s great to hear about bunnies making good progress 🙂
Yesterday (July 1st) was Jasper’s (cat) 4th birthday, which is crazy to think about. The bunnies’ 6th adoption anniversary is coming up at the end of July too. Luna has been doing well, maintaining her low weight ok, she’s got a great appetite which is very pleasing but her movements and…[Read more]

Thank you all.
I suppose a dental issue still is a possibility, but with an x-ray and visual examination and finding the growths on the larynx I wouldn’t expect another issue or the vet to have missed it. Not to mention he has no issues eating hay at all, or his dried strawberry treat after medicine. At the very least another oral exam is…[Read more]

Great progress for Molly, seems shes in the flow of domesticated life now!
Nellie is binkying and very chill around us now, taking food out of our hands but doesn’t like to be petted… Not sure if we will ever get there but we’ll see!

Yay time to revive this thread!
After what feels like the longest break ever I am going to reignite the bonding flame!
We had a break due to Glenn being ill for a little while, I was out of country with work for a couple weeks and he didn’t resume eating hay as normal till the day after I got back… I don’t know if that was stress from me being…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic should I screen for EC in Bun Jovi? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
That’s great! I hope you continue to see a difference.
pretty sure it’s still not readily available here in Australia. Our TGA (like FDA) made changes last year but so far no OTC products meet the criteria. Good to know it can help animals. I read that constantly.

That’s so great!! I’m so glad. So far we just have an N of 2, haha, but fwiw I’ve found similar results with Teddy so far — that it can work pretty quickly to help him to feel better and be less stiff/challenged. It must have been so great seeing Bun Jovi hopping up for pets! 🙂
I think effects vary by individual, but my imp…[Read more]

What? That’s GREAT news ^_^
July started off great here as well: I have just given Molly her first bunny massage!!! She enjoyed it immensely and sat there against me for about 15 minutes. Then she moved to scratch an ear, and stood up on her hind legs to give my face a very thorough grooming 🥰
The strange thing was: I could touch her almost…[Read more]

White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit
Not much to say on my end except that Thumper’s been licking me without me smelling like food and Blossom stood on her back feet to sniff me when I was giving her fresh water today
