Bunniesareamazing replied to the topic Why is my bunny having seizures? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Ec Titers showed even LOWER signs than previous tests? Even though at this point she was at her worst? We did find that her crp levels were abnormal however. Unfortunately she did happen to have another seizure today (right after I told the vet she didn’t have any episodes 😑) but I believe it was because I decided to do her medicine after ex…[Read more]

Ivana started the topic Urine stains on fur in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Hi everybody. I need some help. So I know that rabbits can mess up their fur with urine, but Mrvica(that’s my rabbit’s name) was completely clean 3 days ago and she’s cleaning herself multiple times a day like every rabbit. Today I’ve noticed that her fur is soaked in urine and she smells bad. I’m cleaning her toilet on a daily basis and she’s a…[Read more]

Thanks for your reply.
I went to see him today and if I didn’t already know that he’s not eating or pooping, I would have thought there was nothing wrong with him. We decided to give him a couple more days, and if the situation has not changed by Thursday we’re going to go the surgical route.
Fingers crossed.

That’s a good idea! I have no idea if/how they’ll split. Sometimes they’ll all cuddle together (rarely), other times Sage+Salem, Sage+Bear, or Salem+Bear. A lot of the day, they just kind of lay out in different parts of the cage. Sage is still chasing and nipping today, but I think it’s an improvement from yesterday and definitely seems a lot…[Read more]

I remember one of our members, Muchelle, whose bun Kuro had surgery for bowel obstruction. This was back in 2016, in Italy. Kuro recovered. Hopefully your bun will too. It is risky, obviously. It is also risky to not do anything.
As others have said, with stasis, it can be a long time before you see poop. It can take weeks. I cant say if surgery…[Read more]

Wow that sounds like a really great date!

That’s great! If you notice they start to separate into a duo and a third wheel, you may want to reduce the space again, or change it up through the day (like smaller during the day, larger at night). There’s definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach. 🙂

Yes I would do a very gradual transition!

Another update from the vet: unfortunately Oz has not been having any bowel movements in two days and at this point they are recommending surgery.
I will head to the vet to talk to them and see what they plan on doing.

Thank you so much! I didn’t know about the light situation so that actually makes sense.

Bam replied to the topic Weather and bunny behaviour in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 1 month ago
Rabbits are sensitive to light. Light inhibits melatonin, the sleep hormone, so less light makes them less active.
They also get less active when its hot, during the day. A sprawled out resting bun doesnt generate so much body heat (muscular work raises body temperature), plus the bigger surface area makes heat disperse more readily.

Yeah, she’s got adult pellets now, no pet store in my city sells them but I’ve found a supplied who will drop some to me in the next 24 hours. Will start swapping in the junior pellets into the mix to get her used to them. Thank you!

Are you feeding her adult pellets now? You should probably ease into the transition. Alfalfa is much richer than timothy.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Question about choking/aspiration pneumonia in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 1 month ago
Pneumonia isn’t very common. And if this just happened, it would take time for aspiration pneumonia to really develop.
What does it sound like when he breathes? Audible breathing isn’t necessarily a sign that anything is wrong.

I upgraded their space and it seems like its helped! I think I’ll expand a bit more in the morning if they have a peaceful night. I do think he’s being possessive over his bun-wife though. It seems like he doesn’t want her near the new guy- if she starts wandering over to interact with him, it seems to cause a lunge or a chase. I’m hoping as time…[Read more]

Ooh a stuffy for him is a great idea. I will be trying that one.
Interesting session today, no mounting what so ever which was odd, they just stared eachother out most the session, napped and self groomed a little then Nellie gave Glenn a big groom on his head for about 10 straight minutes and he reciprocated after with a couple of ear…[Read more]
