Chinchillas? Um… pretty sure they are just as domesticated as guinea pigs are. Both are cavies, so what’s the difference?

I agree. For a few years (too few, because I’d have wanted a longer life for my Yohio), I had 2 male rabbits that I couldnt bonded despite seroous efforts. They free roamed in half my apt each, separated by a double gate. They as a rule liunged next to each other alongside the gate, but could suddenly, wihout warning, cjarge at each other and…[Read more]

So overall its been about a week of bonding and things seems to be going okay. They are generally becoming more relaxed in eachothers presence and are now both flopping, grooming themselves, eating hay together, usually seperate piles at the moment but at the same time.
One thing giving cause for concern –
Glenn is still trying to mount Nellie…[Read more]

Oh, wonderful! Sounds great! Poop will likely be a bit irtegular for a week or so but that’s quite ok!
These next few weeks her temper and mood might be a bit volatile, but that’s simply due to her body and brain adjusting to the abrupt stop in the production and release of female sex hormones (they are produced in the ovaries, which she…[Read more]

Thank you!!! She’s eating today!!! She started eating some basil and oregano last night, this morning has eaten pellets, hay, lettuce and all the snack food in her cage from last night (applesauce, raspberry, strawberry tops, and rosemary)!!! She’s pooping and moving around a bit more. Not as active as she typically is, but was very exc…[Read more]

Yes, we’d hop the border if they were forbidden! (It’s barely 10 miles from here anyway…)
Funny though that they took the level of domestication to decide whether an animal would make a good pet. According to that logic cats shouldn’t be kept as pets. Free-roaming cats are a massive threat to local wildlife, even if they have a home. There are…[Read more]

There is a new list yes, it’ll become effective in 2024. It’s a greenlist of 30 mammals, and all other mammals will become off-limits. You can still keep existing pets if they’re not on the list, but you’re not allowed to buy, sell or breed new ones after 2024.
Pets that will be forbidden after 2024 are: serval cats, degoe mice, Russian dwarf…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Age Differences – Safe to Bond? in the forum BONDING 4 years ago
There’s no age-exclusive related safety concerns. Generally speaking, if both rabbits are relatively healthy and energetic, the safety considerations will be the same as with any two rabbits, so watching to see how they communicate and if either are aggressive, being mindful of how severe that aggression is and having preparations to handle and…[Read more]

We have 2 male bunnies ages 8 months and 9 years.
Both neutered when they were each 4 months old.
Live in separate cages side by side but we were hoping to bond them and return to one cage. We let them out to play separately.
Rex had a mate who passed away a few years ago. He is starting to get frail due to age but recently had a checkup so we…[Read more]

Her mouth could be sore after the burr. She must get some food in her though. You could perhaps try soaking some pellets i water and mix in sth very soft and yummy like banana or fruit pure for babies.
If she still wont eat, you’ll need to syringe-feed her critical care or other recovery formula. Make sure she keps warm, a rabbit can become…[Read more]

Approx. 5 yr old rabbit was spayed yesterday, also had back molars trimmed (?). We took her back to the vet today as she had not eaten yet and was not moving much or acting herself. Vet gave her an additional dose of pain meds and she was fairly active at the vet (for being post surgery); he didn’t really seam that concerned. That was 8 hour…[Read more]
