Tried feeding her some alfalfa hay she ate 2 pieces. I’m giving her .24cc of pain med per day. I ha ent given it too since I gave it to her around 6 last nite. Should I…[Read more]

What are they currently on? Are they still getting probiotics?

LBJ10 replied to the topic Spaying? 's in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years ago
It isn’t unusual for them to have weird poop after surgery. Sometimes they will have small, hard poops. Sometimes they will have excess cecotropes. Have you tried giving her veggies? Sometimes they will go for fragrant herbs when not feeling well. Willow leaves are also something good to try.
Is she getting enough pain meds?

Hi,
Bunnies are related, they’re sisters and same age. The diagnosis was they had a parasite but the skin problem cleared up.
They have been on just hay for a long time now, pretty much since this was first posted.
Nothing seems to be working and the vet doesn’t seem to think there’s anything he can do. It is worrying me because it’s…[Read more]

I mixed up some CC but she won’t eat it, i tr8ed putt8ng s9me on a spoon. She did eat 2 peices of banana and nibbled alittle on her will cube/sticks and a wood toy. Called the vet there closed and called 2 emergency vets they had no one on hand for exotics. Any idea why she was producing big cecotropes? Should I force feed her the CC?

It’s agreat idea to weigh them! The weight can vary at least 50 g in either direction depending on how much food in the tummy poop in the intestine and urine in the bladder, so those small variations from day to day is nothing to worry about. The important thing is the trend, so its good to weigh a poorly bun every day and write down the weight.

I am no vet, but your case reminds me of an unfortunate one a past user posted in 2018: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/white-crust-taking-over-my-bun/
The quick summary is that a tumor was likely growing and compromising the rabbit’s immune system, therefore, the fur symptoms were secondary to the actual cause of the problem. If you’re…[Read more]

I personally have no experience with lionhead grooming, but here’s a resource: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Angora_and_other_long-haired_rabbits
Unsure how poofy your lionhead actually is, but if it is not to prevent matting, there’s the possibility that you don’t need to groom the chest fur and as long as you are being very vigilant about…[Read more]

You mention a second rabbit — is this his bonded mate, or a separate single rabbit in the household? The presence of a second rabbit can absolutely facilitate territorial pooping and peeing.
A picture of his set-up would be helpful as well!

If she hasn’t eaten anything substantial in several hours, feeding CC would be wise so she has something nutritious in her to continue her recovery.
Also, don’t hesitate to call the vet to consult if there are concerns!

thanks again!
they were seperated for about an hour and a half; in that time she produced a small amount of poop (about a teaspoons worth) seemingly normal color and size.
I’ve adjusted the Critical Care routine accordingly
I’ve found an online supermarket that has carrot tops in stock, I’ve got four bags arriving tomorrow morning!

Checked on her this morning and she had a few odd ball poops but another cecotropes that hasn’t eaten. One was the size of a whopper. She also smeared it on her bed and looks like it’s on her tail as well as one of her back legs. Her insicons look good no dark red or swelling. Doesn’t look like she’s eaten her food or hay. Going to get some more…[Read more]

I do have wood pellets, but there’s a tray so it doesn’t hurt is feet for both litter boxes that I am using right now.
I do soak up his pee and place the paper towels in the litter box. And they have to go inside their hutch to get hay. I do not have hay anywhere else.
I recently opened up their enclosure and there have not been any pee spo…[Read more]

Luna has been full of beans this morning, which was very cute to see. She was digging and chewing at fleece, exploring, and even went through the tunnel (which she doesn’t often do I think because of the position it puts her in might be a little painful with her kidneys). Apollo is the charmer as always, coming up for head pats and booping me if I…[Read more]

Is it just the corners of his mouth?
Hmm… if the Benadryl seems to help, then maybe it is allergies. The dosage recommendation is 2mg/kg and it can be given every 12 hours, so I think you could do 2 doses per day if needed. The better solution would be to figure out what is causing the allergy. Oddly enough, some rabbits are actually allergic…[Read more]

To me, it sound like he might be allergic to something like you mentioned. Have you kept him in the same room since you moved or is he free roam to different areas of the house? If he’s in the same room, maybe try switching him to a different room for a week to see if it helps. Or if he goes everywhere in the house, do you have a friends place h…[Read more]
