I can see her being okay(ish) with that! I’ll give it a try next time I need to trim her nails (technically sooner rather than later since I maybe managed 4 nails last attempt) . Thanks @LBJ10!

if it is separation anxiety maybe music could help, I play my buns either really mellow classical or lofi, or even just videos of water with bird song or such. It seems to calm them.

Seeing all these wonderful buns…it helps. Here’s Thumper and Blossom, yes again sorry for the mess.

I love having a litterbox screen to catch (most of) the poops, so that dumping them in the trash (or saving them for the compost) is very easy & quick.

For reasons I can’t remember, when I was trying to find a litterbox screen the BB screens weren’t an option, so I experimented with making some. What I ended up sticking with (unless I ever fin…[Read more]

Sounds like a good idea, I’ll give it a go tonight. Thanks

I haven’t had this per se, but I think your description of separation anxiety contains the solution. Is it possible for a couple of nights, to call to him as your approach his cage later in the evening and go in to say Hi, hang out (not with more pets)  for a few minutes, then leave again? Don’t go in when he is agitated-he’ll think he can call…[Read more]

We tried to give him activities he usually enjoys outside his cage during the day, like apple sticks, hay rolls/cookie but that doesn’t help. Basically, he has no problem getting into the cage on his own when it’s bedtime, as per usual, and start checking his food bowl or hay stack, but the second we close the door behind him, he freezes, jump on…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Infcol/ Simethicone in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 11 months ago

Correct, simethicone won’t really do anything for stasis. Simethicone is used to relieve gas. A bunny can have gas pain, which can eventually lead to stasis if it isn’t resolved. People will give simethicone to prevent things from progressing.

Does it actually work? That has been debated. Some people swear by it. Personally, I have had very good…[Read more]

    https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Broken_bones

My Wick broke his toe and after a lot of X-rays and follow up over several months with an exotic veterinary team (very rabbit savvy), it seemed unnecessary to amputate his toe. Yes it healed crooked and impacts his walk slightly now, but it is very livable.

Every case has different factors, so I’d…[Read more]

It depends on where the toe was broken and what other damage was done in the process of the toe breaking. Is the toe still pretty much in place? Or is it sticking out funny?

I agree with Dana, it would be better if someone could at least check on her more often. Her staying with your parents though sounds much more ideal. This way she is being monitored and getting plenty of attention, even if that “attention” is simply having the sounds of people around.

Hopefully she is doing better now.

Hmm, what about an extra special “boredom buster” toy that you can give him only in the evenings when it’s time for bed?

What are the main stress behaviors that he’s showing?

DanaNM replied to the topic Infcol/ Simethicone in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 11 months ago

So, simethicone is not a motility medication. In cases of true stasis, it will not help. It can help if the rabbit is gassy by aiding in the passage of the gas. Simethicone is also not a pain med, so if the rabbit is suspected to be in pain and the simethicone doesn’t help right away (within a couple hours), a vet should be consulted.

    I think…[Read more]

Often rabbit rescues will offer nail trimmings. If you search for rabbit rescues in your region you may have some luck with that!

An no need to apologize for posting lots! That’s what the forum is for!

    How is she doing today?

Did you have a pet sitter checking on her during the time you were gone? Since problems can pop up and become serious within 24 hours, it’s best to have a pet sitter come twice a day just to make sure they are still doing well. Sorry if I misread your post though!
