Looking for recommendations for clippers, in particular, smaller sized ones as I find normal ones unwieldy. Bun in need is a lionhead with thick long fur.

After a year of trimming my little monster’s fur (1x/month), I’d like to try exploring clippers. Despite trying to sharpen the grooming shears, which did work very well for a while, it seems…[Read more]

If the vet thinks it could be his back, then I would look into getting him on a regular regime of pain meds. Like I said, at this stage, it’s more about making them comfortable (as opposed to worrying about potential side effects from long-term use).

Yes, it can be permanent. If it was caused by an IV, it isn’t anything to worry about.

Yay! I’m glad you’re done. She will forgive you eventually. Once she realizes you’re only there for good things, she’ll come around.

If he’s previously been dx’d with arthritis, it could be the degree has increased and/or perhaps some spinal issues coming up. It is somewhat common in older rabbits. My Galaxy expressed similarly until she started her Meloxicam. If there is recent imaging, I’d talk with the vet if a medication trial may be worthwhile.

Oh you could be right! I looked back at old photos and saw it was about a year ago she got it. I think it was around the time she got a IV for a GI stasis. Does it just stay permanently?

    thanks for you response 🙂

She was like that for 5 minutes just looking around, her mane was blowing like a shampoo commercial.  She likes to eat like that sometimes too. Such a strange little bun!

I’ve done the sit one. Though found it was easiest if she was in hay and just hold her down for long enough to give her the syringe.  I also ended up combining all the meds in one syringe as it made it faster. It’s finally done! Now will just need to regain trust. Right now she’ll run and hides if I get close.

Hey guys! Wondering if someone could help. I’ve been trying to update the email address for my account for a couple years. I go to profile –> account. Then type in my current password, and change the email address to the preferred email and click save. After this it will say “There is a pending change of your email address to (new email address).…[Read more]

Are you just now noticing it? Has it been there for a while? It looks similar to what develops after an injury to the ear. Like when blood is drawn or an IV is placed there, for example.

hi! Has anyone seen something like this on their rabbits ear? It’s a weird flat bump that I can feel on both sides of the ear. Is it an emergency? Does anyone know what it is? Thanks so much in advance ( my girl is a 5 year old Flemish giant in case that makes a difference. Not sure about her history since she’s a rescue )

When they are this old, a number of things could be going on. It could be arthritis, it could be weakness in the hind end, it could be an inner ear problem, etc. Is he on pain medication at all? When my bunny was toward the end of his life, we found a daily dose of metacam really helped. He was old, so it was about making him comfortable at that…[Read more]

    Hello,

my bunny (10.8 yrs) is currently having difficulty standing up. His hip is moving to one side of the body, so he’s circling around himself and then lays down as his body does not want as he does. However, in-between he was also running and honking.

I was told before he has arthritis but the vet who took the x ray never said anything about…[Read more]

To be fair, antibiotics can sometimes taste really yucky… even when they are flavored. Have you tried sitting on her? That technique always worked for me. I would sit on my knees and bunny would go in the space between my legs and the floor. I would make sure to turn my feet inward so they couldn’t back up. Then it was just a matter of getting…[Read more]

Our bun Arthas is also quite dramatic about being handled or getting medicine. It really stresses him out, too. He is usually huffy for a couple days, even after something like toe trims.

When he was neutered, I had to give him meds for a few days. He started to get afraid (or just really cranky) when I would even come in the room. When his…[Read more]
