Hi all,
I am the proud owner of a 5 year old male lop, Gustavo. I’ve come to this forum frequently, and you guys have always offered great advice!
I’ve attempted to bond Gus to numerous different rabbits, and all have failed – he has made it adamantly clear he loves humans and doesn’t like other bunnies. So getting him a friend is out of the…[Read more]

Hello! Hope you’re doing well!
I’ve noticed a recurring physical behavior in my bunny ever since I adopted her: every time it’s winter here in Brazil (when the weather gets relatively colder and more humid), her allergies tend to worsen. As a result, she sometimes ends up with one watery eye, and it often develops a small reddish looki…[Read more]

Do the hideouts only have one entrance? My bunny prefers things like a tunnel because there is more than one entrance/exit.

Was there anything that you did that did help your bun?
My bun has had many health issues as well he gets gi stasis quite often but hasn’t happened since late may, he’s had an ear infection which was pasteurella and we got that under control. At one point I found him limping out of nowhere and took him in and he had torn a muscle and they did…[Read more]

Hey guys
i’m just wondering if there’s any other bunnies out there that would rather be out in the open wide open and not hiding at all I give these girls hide outs and they won’t even use them -

Some buns have damaged nasal mucosa, sometimes from an untreated URI way back in the past. A URI without overt signs like excessive sneezing or thick snot can easily go undetected. I had a bun like that, he was 6 when I got him and he had some health issues. Antibiotics didn’t help his nose, but he had no thick, opaque or colored nasal d…[Read more]

So what should I do? Every time I go they tell me he’s fine especially since he eats, plays, and drinks water just fine. That’s why I was looking into other things and came across the homeopet nose relief drops and they seem to be working.

Enrofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic so it’s they typical go-to for vets. Some bacteria is resistant to it though. Not saying the squeaking is for sure a URI, but sometimes it takes several tries to get it right.

My vet gave me enrofloxacin and had me give it to him for a week but it didn’t help with his breathing. The only thing that is helping is the “homeopet nose relief drops”.

I agree with Bam, I don’t really see anything concerning in the video. Did the vet try looking in his nose to see if there was inflammation or an obvious obstruction?

If your local humane society adopts out bunnies, you could ask them who they use for a vet. Oftentimes you can find a more affordable vet for spaying/neutering that way.

Ahhh, living with bunnies can be highly rewarding (but sometimes a little complicated, especially when they’re all singles lol).
Once your Holland boy is all “aired out” from his neuter, you could let him be neighbors with the girl bun. Even being neighbors can give them a sense of companionship, I think, and may help him out. They may even “hang…[Read more]

Probably not a good idea to try putting them together until they are both done. You don’t want to cause false/phatom pregnancies or risk fighting (females can be territorial too). Plus he can still get her pregnant for several weeks following being neutered. I think they may like being next to each other in the same room in the meantime though.…[Read more]

I have a 5 month old Holland Lop, named Hashbrown that lives in my bedroom. He gets to go out on the enclosed deck all day. He is lonely since I put my dog to sleep last week. I was planning on getting him fixed and putting my female with him for company. I read that it may go well because of her hormones. I can’t afford to get her spayed right…[Read more]

My vet has listened to his lungs with a stethoscope and said everything sounds fine. But when he was listening he did hear a little whistle like breathing but that was it. My vet thinks he has an upper respiratory issues like inflamed nasal passages and told me to try baby Benadryl and that didn’t help him. The only thing that seems to be wo…[Read more]

I can’t hear heavy breathing in this video. Your bun is breathing through his nose and he looks relaxed on his side. That’s how a resting bun should be.
Typically a rabbit in acute respiratory distress will brathe through its mouth. It wil sit up with its head tilted domewhat back. Those signs would be very bad indeed.
Has your vet listened to…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic What is this thing in my rabbit's ear? Has anyone ever encountered this? in the forum DIET & CARE 1 month, 1 week ago
Usually when people talk about dryness on the ears, it’s flaky. Like dandruff.
If he seems OK and it is improving, then I don’t see any reason to rush him to the vet. It could have been some kind of reaction.

Thank you for your kind reply, I really appreciate!
Hmm… that would really look similar-ish, like the itch mites. At least in the initial stages, perhaps. Although now it looks more and more like dry skin, so I’m somewhat confused. (not like fur mites though) The thing is he is really not itching excessively at all, either – which I though…[Read more]
