my bunny hates being on the floor without the mat. however, she got so excited about the pellets today that she hopped over to us (1 meter away from her mat). it took her awhile to realise she was on the floor before she ran back to the mat. i am not sure why she is always scared to be on the floor but it is hilarious to see how her brain takes a…[Read more]

Hey everyone! I am new here and I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong… however, i just wanted to discuss about rabbit supplements with you all. Brownie is a female holland lop who is weighing 1.5kg. she is 4 years old. She had e-cuniculi, pneumonia, dental abscess and a few other health issues. We are new bunny parents, and we adopted her…[Read more]

That’s a good idea! I’m getting rid of the pen soon and giving Jumping Jack free range of my room, and won’t have panels, would I be able to mount this elsewhere?

I have two beautiful and bonded buns who would come to me for pets and even pet (lick) me back from time to time. We were really close until molting season earlier this year when I had to start grooming them regularly. They have been distant with me ever since and nothing I do (hand feeding, spending more time on floor, entertaining) seems to…[Read more]

There are stereotypes… but rabbits are individuals. So no, I don’t think breed stereotypes contribute to whether or not a rabbit does well in a house setting. Rabbits, in general, do very well inside. They are certainly happier and live longer, anyway. I think the problem is that people underestimate and/or misunderstand bunny instincts. Bunnies…[Read more]

Once it is dry, it shouldn’t be a cause for concern. Just use caution while your other animals still have wet spots since it does take some time for frontline to dry.

We don’t know if your bunny actually has fur mites or if the problem could be something else. As Wick said, we can only go by your description. In theory, there would be no harm in treating with Ivermectin to see if that solves the problem. After all, Ivermectin is relatively safe. HOWEVER, it is only safe if you get the correct dosage. There is a…[Read more]

My mom got frontline to use on my cats and dog, but I know that it can kill a rabbit so I’ve been worried about it getting on my clothes or hands and then getting it on pumpkin. Does anyone know if just a tiny amount like that would do anything? Or when people say it can hurt rabbits does that mean if I would actually put it on her directly?

They haven’t been away from each other much, how would you re-bond them? Since they are perfectly fine with each other majority of the time and lie next to each other and groom each other?

Ultimately, no one (including yourself) are vets here, so providing accurate diagnosis and instructions on treatment for a rabbit based on your text description is very tricky (and irresponsible) territory. If your rabbit’s mites are that bad, I would make the trip to the rabbit-savvy vet– most likely there are other things that your rabbit needs…[Read more]

Breed-specific generalizations as it applies to personality are unreliable in my opinion. There are certainly characteristics that, depending on your home layout, may make some rabbit sizes more agreeable than others (e.g., small rabbits may get into nooks and crannies that are dangerous, large rabbits may have access to too much platforming….).…[Read more]

I was just wondering if some rabbit breeds are more suitable than other rabbit breeds for house free roam bunnies?

Just from some observations in my time is that I have noticed that the Lop species seem more calmer and less destructive compared to lets say a Dutch bunny? It makes me wonder if there are specific breeds that make better house…[Read more]

Thank you so much, Bam!  🙂  Yeah, it’s been so great for his issues.  (For others: it’s an antimicrobial saline spray that gels on contact, so it creates a protective barrier, if I understand correctly.  It’s totally nontoxic, so not a problem if they lick it, the vet said.)

In Teddy’s case of sore hocks where there was quite a bit of fur los…[Read more]
