This sounds like a reasonable solution. Both bunnies will be cared for and there is the chance they can be reunited later.

Hey, is it OK to to share youtube links? I wanted to share this video:

I used the comb she uses in this video. She recommends this hack of weaving a rubber band through it to make it like the hair buster. I never did that personally, but I find the comb itself works nicely. Hair buster comb might work…[Read more]

I have a lionhead and the only thing that works on her when she’s having a really heavy molt is a lint roller. The hairbuster works pretty well too for other times when she’s not shedding as badly.

second hair buster. i have a “knockoff” one that was a bit cheaper, but the same design, and she really loves it. if you go the knockoff route, make sure to look at reviews 🙂 i just gave my rabbit a brushing and she was not happy when it was over, she wanted me to continue.

I want to say, I would definitely NOT recommend one of those grooming…[Read more]

I think I came up with a solution for now. My sister offered to take the older bunny as a foster. Then when we have them both spayed and they have the time to heal then we will try to bond them. They can have “meet ups” to get used to each other’s scent again.

then if that still doesn’t work I can at least say we tried. My sister said she would k…[Read more]

I love the “Hair Buster” comb, along with hand plucking when they are really molting and lint rollers. The combo of those three tends to work well on my various rabbits. I’ve also used the kong groom zoom and it works OK but the fur goes flying all over the place which I don’t love.

If your bun is a young lionhead prepare for a huge mane to likely grow through as they get older! They are very cute

My poor boy is shedding like crazy! Which I don’t remember my last holland lop doing so much. I do have a small slicker brush but it doesn’t seem to be working that well, what are some other brush/comb options to release his shed? Thank you!

She does look bright eyed and bushy tailed on that picture! A typical sign of pain in rabbits is narrowing of the eyes (also narrowed, drawn back nostrils and like “sucked in” cheeks, google “rabbit grimace scale”). I see none of that in your picture.

Very well done of you to take her in before she was in full on stasis! The prognosis is a huge…[Read more]

I hear you that’s definitely a concern as she does like to scratch around these areas even normally, I think more thank likely she will be spending the night there without supervision and the incision will probably be left partially open to allow for drainage, so I may need to add on the Elizabethan collar as an add on, I’m just worried about her…[Read more]

If it really will be a burden and stressful to keep them both, I don’t think you should feel shame in returning one rabbit to the breeder (if they will still take them). Then in time you can adopt another rabbit to bond with your current rabbit.

I know your son has become attached to them both though 🙁

Thank you for your replies again. These two girls seem to really dislike one another but I’m going to keep trying. The vet won’t spay the older one for at least another month – when she reaches 5.5 months.  I’m going to try your wise advice and timeline. If it’s still feeling hopeless I may have to give one up and try again in the future.…[Read more]

I did have to syringe feed her 2 times. In the morning she still wasnt eating or moving so I was going to call the vet to ask about more pain meds but a few hours later she started slowly improving and trying to eat!!

Today she’s almost back to normal. She was excited to get her breakfast and ate it all at once and she’s also been eating some hay…[Read more]

Unfortunately he hasn’t touched his water bottle. He is only drinking from his bowl. His new pen has been set up now so he can now free roam, he has the outside space all to himself. He will be a lot more happier now.

Hey I don’t know if this will be useful, but wanted to add, in case it does end up being from the litter, you might try switching to a grated litter pan , so that they aren’t directly sitting on the dirty litter. I was always having to take my rabbit in for sanitary shaves because she would sit in the litter pan or even sleep in there. once i gave…[Read more]

FYI I’m moving this to the Lounge section as it’s a bit more in line with that section.

This is really tough. I personally love watching his videos and have also been really upset by the patterns with the rabbits, so it’s very conflicting. At his old property he had them in an enclosure and the situation was much better. I do know that recently…[Read more]
