Thanks again for your advice! We are still wondering what does it mean that our bunnies seem to be so good friends in their separate cages (lying side by side and curiously stuffing their noses through the bars ears up) but they still start to fight when put together. Do they just start to get annoyed when the other bunny refuses to submit?

42″ should be fine

Diatomaceous earth and or borax will keep ants at bay, but dont use it directly on the buns or where the buns can get at it. Diatomaceous earth is non toxic to buns, but its not good if inhaled or ingested in significant amounts.

Ants usually seek out water and food (either protein or sugar). I would look to see where they are coming in and try to address that area. Diatomaceous earth is nontoxic to rabbits, so I usually will sprinkle some around the holes where the ants come in to block them.

Most types of ants won’t harm the rabbits, but could be an annoyance to them.

It’s good that you’re trying to keep it clean, but I’d hold off on ointment until you’ve been to the vet. This could be conjunctivitis, or irritation from hair getting in the eye plus a blocked tearduct, or it could have to do with teeth. I think you should just make sure that the gaps are not too big to get its head stuck. I prefer x pens without bars because my bunny constantly bites them to get attention and it may not be very good for their teeth if they keep biting it. The plushy is slightly smaller than my bun, but not by much. It’s not heavy at all though, so she can easily toss it around. If your bun like leaning towards sth, I’d choose a somewhat bigger companion plushie.
