Yeah haha I don’t agree with some of Sherwood’s instructions even though I use a few of their products… You definitely don’t want to cut out pellets for a rabbit that is losing weight.
I would talk to your vet about the decreasing weight and the irregular poops. Those things together could indicate a few different underlying problems that a…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Ants in Rabbit Pen in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 8 months ago
Ants usually seek out water and food (either protein or sugar). I would look to see where they are coming in and try to address that area. Diatomaceous earth is nontoxic to rabbits, so I usually will sprinkle some around the holes where the ants come in to block them.
Most types of ants won’t harm the rabbits, but could be an annoyance to them.

Hello, welcome!
Her symptoms do sound like a problem with her molars. Molar filing/burring/grinding is a common procedure in rabbits. Rabbits with misaligned teeth often need their teeth filed periodically, sometimes every 3-6 months. Sometimes however just a filing or two will get the teeth back on track so that chewing hay keeps them filed…[Read more]

When I was changing both of my bunnies’ litter box I noticed something that scared me. I lifted up their litter pan to replace it with a new one, and I saw at least 20 tiny ants crawling around underneath. I didn’t know what to do, because I didn’t want to wound or kill the ants. I’m a nature lover. I don’t know for sure if the ants will leave…[Read more]

Hi, I’m Viet Anh – new here. I’m from Vietnam. I have a rabbit over 4 years old who is having problems with teeth. Hope the rabbit-loving community can take the time to read and give advice on this case.
My rabbit was picked up on September 10, 2018, when she was more than 2 months old. She is very active and cheerful, obedient. However, she…[Read more]

It’s good that you’re trying to keep it clean, but I’d hold off on ointment until you’ve been to the vet. This could be conjunctivitis, or irritation from hair getting in the eye plus a blocked tearduct, or it could have to do with teeth. Hopefully this can be remedied with just some antibiotic ointment and an anti-inflammatory painkiller. Your…[Read more]

Hi, yesterday I woke up and found my rabbit with dry eyes that wouldn’t open. A photo will be inserted below. It looks MUCH worse in person 🙁

I was trying not to panic and act fast, so I put a towel with water to moisten it and it finally opened up. There was a lot of white discharge and tried taking some out. I gave him some an…[Read more]

I totally understand you, It’s very frustrating when you try to tell someone but they refuse to listen. Personally I think I would try to educate her on proper rabbit care. However, if she still refuses to listen, I would try to contact the parents and inform them about proper rabbit care, maybe the parents may be a bit more understanding and…[Read more]

I think you should just make sure that the gaps are not too big to get its head stuck. I prefer x pens without bars because my bunny constantly bites them to get attention and it may not be very good for their teeth if they keep biting it. However, if your bunny doesn’t have this problem, I think getting one with bars is completely fine. And just…[Read more]

The plushy is slightly smaller than my bun, but not by much. It’s not heavy at all though, so she can easily toss it around. If your bun like leaning towards sth, I’d choose a somewhat bigger companion plushie.

Most exercise pens are fine. I’ve used several Midwest exercise pens; there’s no way to get stuck. The higher the better.
I have had dwarf buns go through cube grids.

It’s hard to tell on the picture, but is the plushie roughly the same size than your bunny? I read that they may want to carry the plushie around, so can’t be too big, but at the same time our bunny loves leaning against something, so it can’t be too small either.

The older bun’s weight is stable.
The other bun’s poop, if he drops 10 at once, two random ones are tiny and the remaining 8 varies. Initially I thought I missed seeing and both buns’ poop mixed together but I have paid close attention and he really produces a large spectrum of sizes; before end of last year, they were consistent. As far as I can…[Read more]

Hello! My not-quite-four-month-old bun currently resides in a large cage, with access to a larger, gated play space any time I’m home/awake. I plan to make some changes once he’s neutered/fully litter trained. I would like to leave his cage open and permanently attach a larger enclosure for 24/7 access, and then be able to open THAT enclosure for…[Read more]
