My bunny always hides when she’s scared… Maybe he smells something that scares him?

Agree that you should complete all antibiotics as instructed by the vet, stopping early leads to antibiotic resistance and can create larger issues for you down the road. Is your bun showing any signs of GI stress? Such as smaller poops, gas pain, etc?

Penicillin given orally is very dangerous, but if injected it can be given for quite a long…[Read more]

It’s great you are doing some thinking before jumping into bonding! It can be stressful for first time bonders for sure, but the good thing is that even if you make some mistakes (which you certainly will), it’s likely that everything will still work out in the end. I made tons of mistakes my first time bonding and I still ended up with a very…[Read more]

Thanks for your reply. So what is the maximum duration for penicillin? I always thought penicillin was a super strong medication that would eradicate bacteria in just a week, or at least that’s what I’ve heard. For the Meloxicam, is there still a point to give it to him if he doesn’t seem in pain? He was prescribed it because he was obvio…[Read more]

My rabbit a 15 month old 4-5 pound female Rabbit that I have had for about 2 1/2 months now has gone to the point where I think she is mostly settled,  And like with most Rabbits I think she would benefit from a partner, But I’m worried because everyone says that boring is such a scary process to do and I’m still relatively young so I’m worried…[Read more]

It is important to keep up the medication in order to eradicate the bacteria. It’s great that you’re seeing such great improvement already, but you want to make sure that all bacteria are gone before you stop the antibiotics. 2 weeks is not long, many buns need much longer courses of antibiotics.

The risk with stopping the meds too soon is that…[Read more]

I’ve posted a week ago about my rabbit having weepy eyes and possible infections. The vet prescribed him 4 medications: Penicillin, Baytril, Meloxicam, and Ciprofloxacin on 11/08.

So far, I’ve been up to date with giving him medication and his weepy eye is completely gone and he seems healthy now. My concern is that the vet wants me to give him…[Read more]

Yes, bunnies do blackmail you at times! They find out that a certain action makes you give them a treat or food, and they’re going to use that to their full advantage!

I remember one of Breintjes tricks now, when he was still quite young. I wanted him to stay on the sofa a little longer, so I gave him a treat when he looked about to jump…[Read more]

Bunny blackmail! Give me food or you’ll kick me and feel awful! 🤣

But I do know what its like to have a bun that is adamant she’s not at all at risk of becoming overweight. Snöa jumps up on the table and eats paper, because she knows mum will bring out the bag of fresh grass when she does. And yes, I do go out and pick fresh grass for her more…[Read more]

I’m very sorry you have a chronic illness.

My guess is your bun is being – a bun. Some rabbits are extra loving when their bonded mate is ill, some rabbits are completely indifferent, but many rabbits actually act out in the presence of a sick fellow bun. It’s quite common between rabbits -healthy rabbits can be really mean to poorly rabbits even…[Read more]

He climbed up onto the back of the sofa to stare me in the face. Paws on my shoulders, and trying his best gaze to hypnotise me into giving him more pellets.

He’s so hyper, and does binkies every time I walk past or when he hears a wrapper open. He also started to walk around my feet again, which already got him kicked in the head thrice 😖…[Read more]

I’ve found that litter boxes can create disputes in bonding sessions, so first I would try removing the litter box completely (I just put pee pads down if it’s a longer session). You could also remove the floor blanket, slippery floors can actually help them stop chasing or fighting.

I think continuing to experiment with the space could also…[Read more]

Oh I see! Have you tried doing a bonding session since the fight?

If not, you might test the waters a bit and see how they do in neutral space in a short bonding session. If they seem like they were before, you may not even need to do a full separation.
