Just to follow up on this in case anyone has a similar issue. I went a bit crazy and bought memory foam bath mats, the kids puzzle mat, and new 1/2” rug pads (I’ve been wanting to get these for a while so this finally pushed me to do so). I know the foam puzzle mats are not great for chewers, so I’m using it more as a pad underneath the area rug i…[Read more]

Hi!
So I have a question-my bunny Oreo, whom I rescued when he was abandoned in a local park in September of last year, has recently (just yesterday in fact) been peeing outside of the litterbox. He seems perfectly healthy and active: ears, eyes, nose, bum and fur are all clean and in good condition. He is still eating as normal and his poops…[Read more]

Try fruits. My bun initially wouldnt eat anything ‘wet’ except lettuce. She loves freeze dried strawberries and raspberries. Just make sure its only fruit. No added sugars, or anything else.

Agreed that this sounds like puberty. His personality will be rapidly changing day to day as he responds to his oncoming hormones, so don’t take anything too personally or permanently and adapt as things go along!

Yes he is really small, I took him to the vet and he said he is still a baby however I’m not 100 percent sure he is 2 months that’s what the girl that was selling him said.
Thank you this makes me feel much better let’s hope this is just a phase.

Considering his age, I would say this behavior is pretty normal. He is growing. As he grows, he is going to experience changes. Some of this is driven by hormones as they start to “awaken”. So it isn’t unusual to hear stories of young bunnies going through “spook” phases. Or young bunnies suddenly becoming very wary of their owners. It can be like…[Read more]

Bond done. Miserable for the first two days, now happily sharing and grooming each other and sleeping next to each other. Will reintroduce them into free roam room tomorrow, and will supervise to make sure new location doesn’t throw them off. But they are able to be left alone now including overnight with no issues. She is dominant bun, and the l…[Read more]

I agree w/ @Bam — unless this becomes an abnormally long span of time of being hay-only, I would just monitor for now, as hay is ultimately the best regulator for health as it is! Make sure to continue offering the veggies and pellets so her curiosity can be satisfied whenever she’s ready!

Oh Kate, thank you so much. It means a lot to hear from you, and I really appreciate it. You have helped us so much over the years and I’ll always be grateful!!
You are absolutely right, Teddy was Athena’s bunny, a real bun’s bun, as long as she was here. I can’t blame him — how could we have hoped to compete with her? 😉 I see it as all the…[Read more]

I do think that if she is eating a ton of hay and drinking water, you dont need to worry a huge lot. Baby buns needs extra nutrients (pellets, alfalda) and so does pregnant/lactating does, poorly buns and some elderbuns, but heslthy young adult buns do excellently on hay only. Its the same with horses, its becoming more and more common for horse…[Read more]

Hi all! I’m just looking for some input or what others have experienced. My 11 month old holland lop Rue is about 10 days post spay and went into GI Stasis as a result of inadequate pain relief (there was a meds mix up). It was a long, sometimes bumpy, road, but she seems to be doing better. She is eating on her own and pooping mostly regularly…[Read more]
