Thank you guys i really appreciate it
In terms of the wound it really is so strange, the vets took a sample and sent it out a few days ago but we haven’t received an answer as to what it is -And they don’t seem to know aswell. Vets just said that it’s spreading to her actual eye almost… And because she is 7 years old it’s dangerous doing a…[Read more]

I’m so sorry, what a sad turn of events. Would it be possible to get a second opinion or see a specialist?
I think you should go to see her on Saturday. It will be hard, but I think you would regret not going.

Oh dear, it seems to me like ending her suffering is a bit premature? I know you’ve posted about it before but what type of a wound is it? Is there an abscess?
There are “flesh-eating” bacteria, but they typically do their work of destruction really, really quickly. This seems more like a slow spread, like some sort of pyoderma (what’s known as…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Does my bun have a dental problem? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years ago
This does sound like it very well could be a dental problem. The fact that she saw some sharp looking teeth AND he isn’t wanting his hay suggests that the points very well could be bothering him. Hay requires the most side to side chewing and is usually the first thing to go when a bun has molar spurs. It’s not uncommon for buns to need a trim…[Read more]

A few weeks ago my 7 year old dwarf Rex house rabbit went off his food. He was nibbling a few things, but not his usual voracious appetite. I took him to a vet who checked him over gave him a pain killer injection, and buprenorphine and cisapride to take home. Â He got worse, so I started syringe feeding and took him back a few days later. The vet…[Read more]

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful bunny. Bun Jovi was well-loved around here. He made it to 14, Dana. You must have been doing something right.
Binky free Bun Jovi! We will miss you!

How is she doing now?
I wanted to add that when my bunny had gas, I would offer him dried willow leaves. They are a natural pain remedy and it seemed he would instinctively eat them, even when he didn’t want to eat other things.

I don’t have any pain meds for her, but if i take her to the vet i will see if i can get some to have on hand if this happens again. she still isnt eating, ive been syringe feeding her and giving simethicone. if she doesnt come out of her hideout in the next hour at 4pm (which is usually when she wakes up from her nap) im going to call some…[Read more]

I’m having a hard time writing this post, but Bun Jovi crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 14, at age 14. He had been declining for some time, and things had gotten noticeably worse with his respiratory symptoms. The chance of a traumatic passing were increasing to the point where we decided to have the mobile vet come to help him pass. It was…[Read more]

Do you have any pain meds (meloxicam)? I don’t like to give meds without the vet’s instruction, but if she’s had meloxicam before I would be more inclined to give that than metaclopramide, as giving metaclopramide without pain meds can be very painful for the bun as it can cause cramping and could make things worse for her. If you can reasonably…[Read more]
