LBJ10 replied to the topic Warning About Advantage II Kitten in the forum DIET & CARE 3 years, 3 months ago

I’m so sorry this happened to you and your bunny. Unfortunately, skin reaction at the application site is a possible side effect with any spot-on flea treatment. Advantage and Revolution are generally safe for bunnies. However, each bunny can react differently to different medications. This means they could be fine with one kind, and have a skin…[Read more]

As I have researched over the years I have found information saying Advantage II Kitten and Revolution Kitten are the only two flea treatments safe for bunnies. I was using Advantage II Kitten on my bun until my apartment got flea infested out of nowhere and the treatment wasn’t killing the fleas. I noticed a concentrated red spot the last time I…[Read more]

Two girls can be difficult, so don’t be too hard on yourself. I think a larger area may be what’s needed. The more they can spread out and get away from each other when they want to, the more likely you will see tolerance behaviors.

I glad you were able to get him in to see his regular vet. Hopefully the current treatment plan will help him pass the blockage (assuming it is fur).

Yep, looks like a testicle. Nothing unusual about it, at least not that I can see in the photo.

It looks like a typical rabbit testicle. Most male buns have two, but in some buns only one drops. Rabbits can also retract their testicles so they dont show.

Could be! When I did the second session with just the girls and it was actually worse, so now I just don’t know. Sometimes I think Cooper is stirring them up, but then he also does distract them from each other a bit so it goes both ways with him.

I had to pause sessions because I had to go out of town for work. I also noticed Myra had a little…[Read more]

I’m very happy to hear this! He sounds like a fighter which is great. I hope that with fluids and a little more food the mass can be pushed through gently.

    More vibes for Loki!

Agree with LBJ10 on everything. I’ve had many rabbits over the years and only 1 of them has liked to sit on my lap. We always joke that he’s “broken” lol.

One thing you can try is to use clicker training and positive reinforcement to slowly get your bun used to being handled. There are some useful videos on youtube about this, and it follows the…[Read more]

I’ve done bun-sitting both ways (having a nice but less experienced person stay with them, and sending them to board with a super experienced person from the rescue).

Personally, I have had better piece of mind with the person from the rescue whenever the trip has been longer than a week, especially if I was going to be out of contact (such as a…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Why Is My Bun Licking a Blanket? in the forum BEHAVIOR 3 years, 3 months ago

It seems likely that it’s connected to the molar filing, since this is a new behaviour for him and he’s 8 years old. It doesnt have to be a bad thing though.

As Wick says, licking soft objects is often a kind of proxy grooming. My youngest bun likes to sit behind my head on my pillow and lick the pillow. I had one bun that loved licking his…[Read more]

I’ve definitely been there. OMG, going on vacation is SOOOO stressful. Some bunnies are stressed out regardless. They may be in a familiar environment, but they may not know the person coming to feed them. So… I don’t see the harm in weighing your options.

So one person is experienced with bunnies… the other is not. But each is only staying…[Read more]

The sad truth is that most rabbits don’t like to be held. Are the rabbits your friend just got babies? Young bunnies are easier to handle. Then puberty hits and any hint of them liking being held goes right out the window.

Now some bunnies will sit in your lap or lay next to you. You can’t force it though. Most of the time, these bunnies are…[Read more]

(Sorry for the duplicate post on the other forum by the way, thank you for handling that one!)

Seeing his regular vet today was quite the relief, as he is very knowledgeable regarding rabbits/has been practicing for a long time. Prognosis was better today — he gave about a 50/50 chance. Took more x-Rays and Loki’s stomach distension/bloat did go…[Read more]
