I found the episode earlier and I put on closed captions/subtitles and the narrator and doctor said EC, I rewound it (we have a DVR) just to make sure.

Oddly, rabbits seem to tolerate certain things more than other animals. Oxalate seems to be one of them. Wild rabbits will chew on all sorts of plants and suffer no ill effects. You should be OK to just monitor your bunnies to make sure they don’t develop any GI symptoms. Irritation of the mouth would have presented itself right away.

    Keep in…[Read more]

Orange peels themselves are not toxic. I think the concern is possible pesticide contamination or coatings (e.g. wax).

As for tomatoes, the fruit is not toxic. However, the rest of the plant is.

They both seem to be fine, they’ve had hay water their pellets and a treat each and neither one is showing any abnormal symptoms. There were about 23 leaves eaten but I’m not sure if it was only one rabbit who ate it or both.

Thank you for the information! That was the only info I could find when I looked it up as well. I will just continue to…[Read more]

My understanding is that peace lilies are toxic in large quantities due to oxalate crystals. What that threshold is, i’m not sure. This post was a few hours ago, how is your rabbit doing?

I found this info online about symptoms:

“If your rabbit accidentally ingests this plant, it may cause oral irritation, usually with difficulty swallowing and…[Read more]

Someone I know told me that they’ve seen people give their rabbits cucumbers, tomatoes and orange peels (usually in treats for the orange peels) and asked if those are actually safe and I’m questioning it too; the safe food list I have currently says cucumber peels are safe, tomatoes aren’t on the list and that orange peels aren’t safe but I got…[Read more]

Thank you both so much!! Things do seem to be going quite a bit better. I am cautiously optimistic for now. He has started accepting water and the pineapple juice through a syringe on his own (no force-feeding) and am giving him small amounts of cilantro and mint+basil (being careful with this for now). Also is fairly mobile but still spending a…[Read more]

    Hi all,

I was away for the day and I came home to my peace lily plant half eaten! I read online that is poisonous to rabbits and am super concerned! Has anyone else bun eaten their plants before? I haven’t noticed anything abnormal in their behaviour yet, they’re still eating and drinking fine but is there any symptoms I should specifically loo…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Warning About Advantage II Kitten in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 11 months ago

I’m so sorry this happened to you and your bunny. Unfortunately, skin reaction at the application site is a possible side effect with any spot-on flea treatment. Advantage and Revolution are generally safe for bunnies. However, each bunny can react differently to different medications. This means they could be fine with one kind, and have a skin…[Read more]

As I have researched over the years I have found information saying Advantage II Kitten and Revolution Kitten are the only two flea treatments safe for bunnies. I was using Advantage II Kitten on my bun until my apartment got flea infested out of nowhere and the treatment wasn’t killing the fleas. I noticed a concentrated red spot the last time I…[Read more]

Two girls can be difficult, so don’t be too hard on yourself. I think a larger area may be what’s needed. The more they can spread out and get away from each other when they want to, the more likely you will see tolerance behaviors.

I glad you were able to get him in to see his regular vet. Hopefully the current treatment plan will help him pass the blockage (assuming it is fur).

Yep, looks like a testicle. Nothing unusual about it, at least not that I can see in the photo.

It looks like a typical rabbit testicle. Most male buns have two, but in some buns only one drops. Rabbits can also retract their testicles so they dont show.

Could be! When I did the second session with just the girls and it was actually worse, so now I just don’t know. Sometimes I think Cooper is stirring them up, but then he also does distract them from each other a bit so it goes both ways with him.

I had to pause sessions because I had to go out of town for work. I also noticed Myra had a little…[Read more]

I’m very happy to hear this! He sounds like a fighter which is great. I hope that with fluids and a little more food the mass can be pushed through gently.

    More vibes for Loki!
