Bam replied to the topic Rabbit selective eating hay after Gut stasis in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
One possible reason could be that he doesnt feel like his normal self just yet. Is he eating other food?
The teeth look even, but sort of “leaning” sideways? That could be just the picture though. Did you see a vet for his stasis?
Rabbits chew hay with their molars (inner teeth). We cant see those teeth without an otoscope. Rabbits use their…[Read more]

snowstorm1996 replied to the topic Hay containment ideas? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 2 years, 11 months ago
After years of DIY borders and “containment booms” I’ve just resigned to living in a barn. Our buns are in the lower level of the house which we use as our living space so the main entertaining area is hay and dust free at least. We spread a large fleece blanket over the litter box area which helps to a limited extent. Even when we had a barrier…[Read more]

snowstorm1996 replied to the topic no interest in toys? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 2 years, 11 months ago
Does anyone recognize this exact toy? After trying dozens of fling and block toys, this is the only one they ever cared for but I can’t find it for sale anywhere and I’m not sure where it came from—the adoption agency sent us home with it years ago and all that’s left is a little stub of wood. Yet, in a sea of mostly ignored blocks, they chew on t…[Read more]

I can’t see anything in these photos. What is the concern exactly? Are his eyes cloudy?

We just finished our fourth session. Less than a minute and Maxwell bit Snoopy above the nose again, and ripped out fur. :(. Later, Snoopy actually tried to flop almost on Ruby and Maxwells heads and Maxwell bit him hard again. Didn’t see damage but Snoopy acted hurt for a minute.
I decided to continue, I should have been more diligent. They…[Read more]

I tried looking at pictures of REW’s eyes but I can’t come up with an answer, also sorry about the bad pictures, I couldn’t use flash in order to get a good picture of his eye. I was able to play with the exposer and color on the pictures and the first one is much better than it originally is but the second…not so much. But anyway should I be…[Read more]

Susanne replied to the topic Trio bonding… again (Myra, Bonnie, Cooper) in the forum BONDING 2 years, 11 months ago
That makes sense. I wouldn’t want to separate them either in that case.

Not a bad idea but I think Bonnie would be very depressed if I separated her from Cooper. Their bond wasn’t totally broken, it’s just that with Myra in the room there was a lot of referred aggression and mounting from Coop so it wasn’t safe to keep them together. With that set-up one bun was in the same room but not perfectly side by side, and…[Read more]

It seems the same thing happened to mine. Pushing longer sessions seemed to make things deteriorate, even though they were never great to begin with. I thought about just stopping the foster to adopt and foster the new 3rd, but I didn’t have the heart lol.
Could you give Myra some time in the room with Cooper (seems like even being able to see…[Read more]

Thank you, this part “I tried fast tracking my 3 and now I’m trying very hard to take it slowwww, because I don’t have the stamina for long and or daily sessions now either.. keep my life balanced and they can slowly bond or not. ” is especially true. I had basically a month where I had time to work with them in longer sessions and it seemed lik…[Read more]

It’s definitely nothing you have done wrong! They aren’t ready yet, maybe Myra is still grieving and needs the space, or maybe the 3 just aren’t meant to be. It seems like trios don’t work out often and it’s understandable you can’t give up your entire life indefinitely to try and bond them all. I hope Cooper and Bonnie can be re-bonded quickly,…[Read more]

I did try that once (although in a small space not the larger room), and it went really bad! Maxwell kept going after Snoopy and I was holding him back almost the whole time while getting bit (gloves on). It seems like Ruby makes him feel more safe, and Maxwell definitely needs his space.. Also, Ruby will spend some time sleeping while those 2…[Read more]

That does sound like some progress! I wonder if doing sessions with just the boys would help? I considered working with just the girls with mine, and might still do that if I resume trying for the trio.
