They did give him meloxicam to give at home. He won’t eat cc from a plate (I have tried that before). I keep the cc in a closet, is it supposed to be in the freezer? Also he did eat hay before. How long should I wait until I give him cc? Sorry for all the questions I am just worried because he has had GI problems before. ( I know it’s common for…[Read more]

Hay is the most effortful food for a rabbit to eat since it is a sandpaper texture and they grind it before swallowing, so it’s definitely common for it to be the first food to be ignored if there is any mouth discomfort. I’d give it time and just monitor, especially if he’s eating everything else.

His gums could still be sore after the trim. Did you get any metacam for him to give at home?
If he’s eating everything else and seems normal, I dont think you need to syringe feed him just yet. If he’d eat CC from a plate it’d be good, but most buns wont do that. (It’s of course always good to have some CC in the household though, if stored in…[Read more]

Hello, as some of you know my bunny Ollie had his teeth trimming surgery on the fifth. As of now both my bunnies are separated because they are fighting don’t know if this could add to it or not. He is eating treats, pellets and veggies, just not hay. Should I get him some critical care? Or anything else? Is it ok if he isn’t eating hay right now?

This happens with cats as well. The cat or bun smells “strange” when they’ve been to the vet. The best thing is to bring both buns to the vet, for simple procedures the vet will probably not mind. I’ll be bringing both my buns when one of them is due for his yearly vaccination in July.

Cinnimon&Ollie replied to the topic What kind of pellets should I give? in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 10 months ago
I wanted to add a few good brands to help you look.
– Sherwood ( what I feed my bunnies )– oxbow
– small pet select
These are just a few and there are many more. Maybe talk to your vet about what they think would be best. Also what hay are you you feeding him/her alfalfa and oat? Those are linked to weight gain in adult rabbits.

I did a very uneventful session again with the boys yesterday. Maxwell has seemed a lot more interested in Snoopy last night and today. They are sooo weird, Maxwell had his foot poking thru the gate, and Snoopy made sure to be one inch away so they didn’t touch :/. Maxwell looked to nip a tiny bit but it was really nothing. I do notice Maxwell is…[Read more]

Okay, hopefully they re bond easier then the first time because that was rough. I wanted to bring Cinnimon but the vet told us it wasn’t possible, next time he needs his teeth trimming I will make sure cinnimon goes. Thanks you for your help.

Sadly this does happen fairly often, sorry this happened to you 🙁 . The thought is that they smell different when coming back from the vet. In most cases the buns can be rebonded , sometimes quickly. Best bet is to keep them separate as the vet suggested, and go back to pre-bonding (side swaps). Then do bonding sessions in neutral space as you…[Read more]

Hello, one of my rabbits Ollie went to the vet today for a teeth trimming surgery. He was fine for 8 hours. Cinnimon my other bunny was home and she was doing fine, sleeping, eating, running around, etc. I hung out with her for about a hour while Ollie was gone but I had to leave so couldn’t stay the whole time with her. A little bit about my r…[Read more]

Hmm, yeah some buns benefit from some time (a week or two or more) of just getting settled in their new home, especially if they are very timid or reactive. But yes I think trying some short bonding sessions would be a good next step. 🙂

I did do prebonding for a week and a half ish. I think I’m going to try the short bonding sessions and leave it on a good note like you said. Thank you for the reply 🙂

Oh nooo, not actually lift her from belly but like under her chest I meant, so only her front paws will go off the ground. She usually lets me do this but as soon as I go to put my hand under her bum she’ll hop out my hands.
I have used her carrier to bring her in a few times but sometimes she avoids it because I think she knows now that i’m goi…[Read more]
