Thanks for the input! I wish I had access to a detachable shower head, as it does sound much easier to deal with. I guess people’s experiences with wet baths are quite different than the House Rabbit Society presents with their super calm bunnies. Given that I did a bit of spot cleaning this morning on her, I may see if she can resolve the rest on…[Read more]

Personally, I have had better luck with a handheld shower head. I would place a towel in the bottom of the bathtub, prop bunny up with one hand under his chest, then use the shower head with the spray turned way down to wet just his butt. Keep in mind though that he was elderly and he didn’t really try to struggle at that point. I would turn the…[Read more]

I have a bun with chronic dysbiosis and to be honest if he gets just a small amount of poopy butt I leave it for a day or 2 and he cleans it up. Once he did have a bigger problem and I ended up having to do a butt bath which was very traumatic for us both, which is why I try to give him an opportunity to deal with it himself first. Sometimes the…[Read more]

Hi all!
I had a questions about the logistics of a butt bath. Typically with my older, sensitive bunny I clean his dried up poopy butt with a warm wet cloth and/or some nail scissors (depending on matted things are). Well, I just woke up to a dirty tush on my other bun, who typically has an iron stomach/digestive tract. It’s not diarrhea but on t…[Read more]

Thanks, I’ve re-designed their areas. I’ve confined them into smaller spaces within my living room & plan to swap them every day or two & give them exercise time outside their pens,
Their previous bonding space was the boundary between their previous spaces. I’ve been doing these sessions as frequently as possible (ie: most evenings). It wasn’t…[Read more]

At 6mo, you can start transitioning into adult proportions/content: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/healthy-diet/
The most potentially GI-disruptive change is young to adult rabbit pellets, so make sure you it is a slow transition over multiple days, adjusting the proportions so you’re mixing both kinds in until it’s just adult left, in…[Read more]

We are back to all 3 doing sessions again. I thought I’d try it, and seems ok so far. We had 2 about 3 hours long each. Sometimes it feels like the same as 5 months ago, but then Maxwell has been laying closer to Snoopy. Still bites/nips going on, but surprisingly I’ve not seen any fur pulled. I have been on top of them though, haha. I’m sure it…[Read more]

I think it would be helpful to rethink their housing, but I would go a step further than what you are considering. If possible, I would set them up in side by side pens in the same room, and then swap who is in which pen every day or two. Alternate who is out for exercise (so maybe one bun gets the morning and the other gets the evening). Be sure…[Read more]

You can soften hay by steaming it in a metal sieve. My vet recommended this to me when one of my buns had difficulty chewing hay. Only steam portion size amounts at a time, it will dry quickly at room temp. Moistened hay can be stored in the fridge for about a day or so, but it is an excellent medium for microbial growth, so its best not to store…[Read more]
