I’m so sorry you had to deal with this with your cat, it’s truly the worst 💔💔 thank you for the kind words and the tip – I’ll definitely make sure to bug him with my constant recording, even more than I already do 😂❤️

That’s great! Glad to hear he is doing better. Keep in mind he is also 7 years old. Perhaps the stasis triggered other pains in his body, like arthritis pain. Does he have a litter box with a cut out side?

Wonderful news! As his appetite continues to stay normal his poops will likely return to normal. That was a very bad bout of stasis so I wouldn’t be surprised if it took some time. Being in pain can cause buns to lose box habits as well.

Rabbits do not need routine deworming unless your vet specifically tells you to. You should only deworm if there are visible worms in the poop or a poop sample gas come back positive for worms.
I’m locking this thread now becsuse its very old. Rabbit medicine is a rapidly evolving field so “old” medical advice can very well be outdated by now.…[Read more]

This is a very old thread so Im closing it now. Rabbits are not highly susceptible to worms, but infestations do occur. Some vets will treat with fenbendazole for 1-2 days, other vets say the worms are harmless. The safest thing is to consult with a bunny savvy vet.

Update!
The past two days he’s gotten nearly back to normal, his appetite is huge as it always has been, he’s eating pellets, hay and greens in good quantities. His overall mood and activity is also looking completely normal.
The poops haven’t yet returned to normal shapes, but their quantity is good, and today there was yet another big blob…[Read more]

I dont think you can tell buns apart with any certainty apart unless they’ve a microchip or an ear tattoo. I’m sure bun DNA-profiling is possible, but I dont think its in high demand for cost-benefit reasons. Rabbits tend to only murder people as a very last resort, so there’s not much need for bunny DNA evidence in most murder cases. Insurance…[Read more]

Oh boy, finding those creepy little worms in Franklin’s poop was not a pleasant surprise!. Even though Franklin tested negative before, it’s possible for rabbits to get re-infected with worms. It’s great that you’re calling the vet tomorrow to get their expert advice. In the meantime, make sure to clean everything thoroughly to minimize the risk…[Read more]

Sorry about the title, I just don’t know how to word my question but I’m gonna try…. You know how humans are found apart from their finger prints and dogs for their noses? How do you tell bunnies apart using this way of identification?

Cathy Battaglia replied to the topic Deworming necessary? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 3 years ago
Nope I don’t deworm my rabbit, deworming is not something that all rabbits absolutely need. Most pet rabbits don’t require regular routine worming. Rabbits are generally less likely to get worms compared to other animals.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I just went through the same thing with my cat, it’s an awful thing to feel like you have no good options. 🙁
I hope it helps your bun feel better for some time and you get to spend some more time with him. It did help my cat for a bit and allowed us at least to have some processing time and some more good…[Read more]
